Yes, and generally used to symbolise something.  I guess they still do - they symbolise poor impulse control, lack of forethought and lack of consideration of consequences.

Back in the day, mostly is was servicemen, prisoners and social outcast that got inked, now it's any idiot with friend and tattoo gun.

I've seen young fellas with nasty looking prison tatts and not even a parking ticket to their name. Ink is not something to be taken lightly, it needs to have meaning if only to yourself.

Now it's just body 'art'.

Yes if you saw a guy with a full sleeve 20 years ago you could have expected him to have done a tour or time.  Now you can expect them to be a hipster faggot.

It seems to be part of a wider trend AWAY from earning things, towards just buying them.  I do have a couple of tattoos.  Relatively small, low profile and no colour, but above all, earnt, not just purchased like a new t shirt.

Tongue stud?

Is that a person, or a thing?

No, I got a butterfly on the small of my back and an indian head on my arm.  All to express my individuality, of course.

I didn't really think you'd be the Bubba's boy type but I thought, why not have a dig. Wink

Biologically male, but I identified as a female the day I got the butterfly.

Gonna get my kids names tattooed on my forearms soon, so I don't forget them.
