so i suppose what this incident reflects is very very low peck order animals attacking another very low peck order animal.

in a paddock of 20 horses, often the most viscous fighting will be between the number 19 and number 20.

generally the alpha stallion and the lead mare are too dignified to act in this lower animal consciousness type of way.

as farmers, we like to mate our alphas and lead mares to keep the gene pool strong.

the number 19 and number 20??...well their progeny are likely to be pretty poor quality
