I remember PM Abbott turning up for a NSW bush fire last year and people criticise him.

Abbott was criticised for using fire fighting resources for photo ops ... he could have gone to the control center in his suit and no one would have complained ... he choose to play dress ups, use a fire truck and tie up fire fighters who had to baby sit him just so that he could get a few seconds on the news broadcasts.

I don't think it's a big deal if a politician misses a photo op over real victims - better to spend the money wasted on assistance.

A smart politician would say just that in the prevailing cold wind of public opinion over politician waste of public money and grand-standing.

Don't know, and don't care.

Moreover, he's not in Government so he's powerless to do anything official.

Where's the Prime Minister of the country?

Indeed.

I'm no fan of Bill's, and couldn't care less where he is at the moment.

He can stay there, for all I care.

Malcolm's absence in the case of these fires is intriguing, though.

Towns have been destroyed, and lives have been lost, yet we hear nothing from the PM.

If you must know, he is on his porch drinking lattes and entertaining the movers and shakers.

He could always send Mr Abbott.   Lots of travelling expenses if he makes it a week visit

I am surprised Tony didnt volunteer to go over with the other NSW Firefighters.

Keep up you profile Tony!

There is a contingent of NSW firies heading over but his station mustn't have been among those selected. But hey, don't let that keep you from bagging him, eh? I bet you've never done any fire fighting work in your life.

Where are you, Mr Turnbull?

...

"The massive fire, which tore through the town of Yarloop on Friday, claimed two lives, with authorities discovering the bodies in burnt-out houses on Saturday."

Thanks Swaggie, must have missed it!

Don't thank him.

All tarred with the same brush I suspect!

Why would Turnbull be with Shorten?

That doesn't even make sense.

"TWO people are confirmed dead in the devastating bushfire that has destroyed at least 121 homes and continues to threaten towns in the South-West."
