Senior members of German chancellor Angela Merkel’s party are calling for pork to be made mandatory in government-controlled canteens, following claims the food was being quietly removed from menus.

I'm all for it.  Nobody is forcing them to eat it.  If they don't want to, they have several options to them:

1. Bring their own lunch
2. Go hungry
3. Piss off

Here's what the Pope has to say. Who agrees with him?

Europe is facing an ‘Arab invasion’, Pope Francis mused while addressing a French Christian group, adding that the trend is actually a positive one.

“We can speak today of Arab invasion. It is a social fact,” the pontiff said, according to extracts from his address earlier this week which were published by the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano on Thursday.

He then added: “How many invasions has Europe experienced in the course of its history! But it’s always been able to overcome them and move forward, finding itself complimented and improved by the cultural exchange they brought about.”

The Pontiff also reflected on the history of migration into Europe and the positive impact it has had on European culture as we now know it.

The Pope also declared that Europe is “the only continent that can bring some unity to the world”. He then added, that in order to fulfill its “universal role”, Europe must “rediscover its cultural roots”.

Foreshadowing what will happen in 3 state elections next week, the 2 year old AfD party has won a strong vote in local elections in Hessen, coming in third behind the CDU and SPD.
This will give them representation in local govt across the state.
A similar result across all states and nationally would drastically change German politics.

A neo-Nazi party has also gained representation in a few towns.

This is all down to Merkel.

DeutscheWelle:

"The party's [Alternative for Germany] strong anti-immigration stance has congealed since Petry successfully ousted party founder and economist Bernd Lücke, a committed euroskeptic who was rather more moderate in other regards.

"First of all we need to work towards controlling the borders and deporting a lot of people who are in Germany without having the right to be here," Petry told Reuters from the campaign trail in an interview in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, an industrial town in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt.

These sentiments play well with some Germans who fear they are being inundated by foreigners after 1.1 million people applied for asylum last year."

Meanwhile .... Turkey is making turkeys of Britain and the continental Europeans.

Quote:

"All together now; sing along with President Erdogan to one of his favourite poems, one he used to celebrate returning to power in Istanbul:

'Minarets are our bayonets, the domes are the helmets,

'Mosques are our barracks, the believers are the soldiers,

'I wait for my divine army

'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.'

From news I heard today on TRT (Turkish radio and television corporation) is that a deal might have been struck between the EU and Turkey. All refugees will be sent back to Turkey. A safe zone will be established in Syria, just over the Turkish border for them (this solution was proposed by Erdogan before the crisis). In return, Turkey will be given European aid money and Turks will get to travel to Europe without a visa.

Arh, it's in the link. Well, if it's given the go ahead then you can expect right wing nationalist groups to become more popular.

All this is adding to the tinder box that Scandinavia and continental Europe are rapidly becoming.

Just one spark .... and it'll be Kristallnacht all over again, but this time with mosques.

Yes but you left out the bit about Turkey will send back an equal number of "registered" asylum seekers.

Here is an interesting opinion from the Telegraph yesterday:

"If it weren’t bad enough for David Cameron that he is making such a pig’s ear of the campaign to stay in the European Union, his so-called friends on the continent are providing ever more reasons for us to vote to leave. Blackmailed by the repressive regime in Turkey, Angela Merkel, Europe’s paymaster, set about last week setting up visa-free travel to the EU for the 75 million people living there. And, because we have no sovereignty over immigration from the EU, if Frau Merkel is saying 75 million Turks can walk into Europe, then they can walk into Britain."

This is absolutely true.

It's the deal you make when you can't make a deal.
