What exact benefits are there to patriotism?

1) I have to get up every morning to raise a flag on my flag pole.
2) I have to get out of bed every night to lower the flag from my flag pole.
3) I have to actually listen to the anthem being sung
4) I have to create some perplexed unmovable image of what Australia is.  And then without any objections or questioning , I have to denounce a whole people when one raises questions with the image, regardless of whether I agree or not.
5) I have to pledge allegiance daily.

Where are the benefits here, Aqua?

Depends of the type of patriotism you're into I s'pose.
1) My wife has to get up my flagpole every morn'
2)I have tell her to hop off it's time to sleep again.
3)I'll let her play whatever tune she wants.
4)I have to create some perplexed unmovable image of... Ahhhh.. And then without any objections or questioning , I have to do it again.
5)I have to tell her I love her daily or 1) will not happen.

Hmm, the benefits...

You're not a lady, are you.
What right do I have thinking
1) My wife should do anything she doesn't want to, the flag will be raised when she says so.
2) why don't you get out of bed and breastfeed the baby, your flagpole is what got us here(no responsibility).
3) Violins

The only thing I'm guilty of is making assumptions about your marriage and your wife, and for that I am sorry.

1) women want sex as much as men do.  Have you never met a kiwi woman?
2) sometimes a man does need sleep and can say no.  Sometimes... It's rare... Ok... I'm sexist...

Patriotism has two forms.
The patriotism of the strengthened collective ego is an ego driven "low consciousness" form of patriotism.
So  north korea  or a british football club or a bikie club are really acting from a "strengthening" of the ego which is always bad.
This can lead to mental illness. a national paranoia.

The type of patriotism i am talking of comes from a different place.
It comes from a place of high consciousness.
It comes from very mindfully and deliberately producing something "awesome"

And then, yawn, very consciously and deliberately celebrating your awesomeness and protecting your awesomeness from the inevitable attack.

"all the good you create will be attacked"

Think of it like an awesome nightclub.

inside everyone is letting their hair down, there is a "reduced ego" as people really are all on purpose, they are all vibing with each other.
Egos get strengthened and go to lower consciousness when there is conflict, anger, judgement.

So we have this awesome club atmosphere, like a rave if you like (though no drugs).
we have a really strong gate.
No one gets into our club / country who isnt going to fit in with this vibe.
Why would we want to go to lower levels of consciousness?
people are so dammed proud.
they love their club
they think its the shiiiit.

thats how aussies should feel about OZ.
wow, we have made a dope-assss club.
we are all raving . theres no judgement. theres no big egos.

if your angry, negative, a cry baby or an assshole, the bouncers chuck you out til you get the right level of consciousness.

i think this is why leftards hate patriotism.

the leftard looks at all those happy families in non judgemental parties on australia day, kicking back, vibing, feeling the love and he looks at his own mediocre life.

He watches Q and A.  everyone is judgemental, emotional, angry, not listening, just getting their point across, everyone is operating from big ego, everyones ego is being inflated by their own sense of outrage, the twitter feed is all negative, judging other people, spiteful and bitter,  its all ego driven.

the leftard needs to let his hair down, become mindful and get into the club with the rightards who are partying and just being the shiiiit. you cant come in til you drop your ego attachment to your negative neuroisis though.

and when you come in, you have to be real proud of the awesomeness that is rightardism and the awesomeness that is australia

I think you're high on those drugs and that's why they aren't any at the rave Wink

Firstly, if you a proud of something good then you shouldn't be Afraid of losing it and instead should want to share.

Secondly, Australia is not without fault. Sure, it's a wonderful country to live in and we have definitely won a lottery. But to suggest that because our lives are so bliss that it means the rest are just "whingers" is nonsense.  Australia has issues, and the issues should be discussed and improved on.

See that's the difference between a Rightie and a lefty. A lefty actually wants to improve things. A righty is naive and just wants to sit around and pretend everything is so good that we should just do nothing. Lefties build.  Righties consume.

It's already started. Closed borders in Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Tighter border controls everywhere else in Europe. Poland has booted out lefties from the public broadcaster. Denmark can now confiscate and sell the possessions of refugees in order to pay for their up keep. France is about to pass laws to strip terrorists who have dual citizenship of their French citizenship.

Yes ... Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia are the proof-of-the-pudding that it can be done if the political leadership has the will to do it.

The time may arrive when those four countries will become a sought-after migrant destination for Europeans and Scandinavians who want to live in a Muslim-free Western society where Islam hasn't been allowed to take root and start growing into a titanic problem for future generations.

Meanwhile ...

Yeah, it can be done. But I will say that the character of Eastern European people is vastly different from the Western character. There's a 'hardness' lying just below the surface of Eastern European peoples. It should also be remembered that the self-annihilating literature that began this self-loathing crusade is North-Western (and Jewish) in origin. It's not a part of the East's culture.

I think you'll find the 'hardening' you speak of is the result of a poor people who have a lack of education.  Similar to why Russians go crazy in happiness whenever Putin decides to attack someone. Its unfortunate because Eastern Europeans are known for so much literature, art, music, etc. and yet the vast hoarde of people is unfortunately uneducated to a point that it's very easy to fall into the nationalist mentality.

Pffft. 'Uneducated'. So an educated person is some self-loathing nihilist that pisses on their culture and people as much as possible? Nationalism is merely a form of the 'group instinct' that has been around since day dot. People have always formed bonds, only today it can take the form of shared values within a nation state.

Another 1.6 million refugees are expected this year. It's not over at all. It's just getting started.

You prefer 1.6 million die?

That's exactly what he would prefer.

Spare me your attempt at moral superiority. The last person you'd take into your home is an asylum seeker. Your own time is spent drinking expensive wines, boutique beers, soy-lattes, playing guitar, sodomizing random hookers, holidaying overseas and 'interpreting legislation'. You're the worst type of moraliser.

righties created the awesome club.
righties stand guard on the door of the awesome club.

getting rid of righties would mean the club becomes a dive and with no strong bouncers, any old riff raff could come in.

before long, the club would be full of sad depressed people reading cry baby stories, there would be low-lifes  pooing on the dance floor and women being touched by low-lifes.

No my friend, the righties know how to create that charged , dynamic, atmosphere that everyone wants in on.

the righties are the playboy mansion.

the lefties are the chubby losers in their cellars , socially isolated , watching ABC or soft core porn on SBS  Wink.

you can come into the mansion after 10 years of grinding it out and developing awesomeness  Wink

Yep, they are moralisers with other people's morals, risktakers with other peoples lives and safety and spenders with other people's dollars.
