As long as he's not in the ironing cabinet ... we know that's reserved for women only.

He could be the Minister for women again.

I haven't felt properly represented since Malcolm took over.

Who is our new Minister for Women? I know I should google that. Is it a woman?

Ridiculous position.
I put it in the same bucket as like Miss Black America.

There ain't no Miss White America like there ain't no Minister for Men.

We don't half have some stupid positions at times.

Ministers should govern for departments (Defence, Home Affairs, Environment) - things impact men and women. A minister just for a gender is idiotic.

I'd ban that position immediately.

That's very true about no minister for men. Valid criticism for having a minister for women. But how would you feel about the minister for men, were we to have one, being female?

A Minister for men would be a great idea.

I'd find the position equally as ridiculous as the above positions I mention.

Unlike some on here John, I am not identified with a party.
I couldn't give a toss who put it there, Fraser did a shitload of good and clearly made some idiotic decisions.

That position is stupid.

Fraser did do a lot of good. Its not just my default position...

A starting point of playing a role in removing the worst PM in Australia's history, earns him eternal praise.

If that is your position, I can't fault your reasoning. Perhaps they could have a co-minister arrangement for human relations. Does the parliament need to be involved in gender issues? I believe so if there is sufficient discontent among the public.

Fraser removed Hawke? Pretty sure you've previously claimed Hawke was the worst ... or is any labor PM 'the worst'?  ... that must be that non party bias of yours shining through again

True setanta, but there is discontent on a number of issues - we don't create Ministerial positions solely for them either.

The Government should be involved where it can (though I am a large supporter of small Government and there being as little Government as possible) - but be involved based on a specific department level.

If there is under-representation of women in employment for example, it should be an employment issue and dealt with in that manner as opposed to a women's Minister.

I also believe in a completely open field. People get positions based on being the best person for the role, not because of their gender.

As a father of 2 girls, there is none more supportive of women growing up and being to do anything than I.

It's one of the reasons I was so disappointed that Australia's first woman PM was so poor - particularly when the best post war PM Britain has ever had was a woman.

Andrei also hates unions, like the pilot's union his old man belonged to. The union that could not protect his father's status and pay, the one Bob Hawk betrayed.

Nope I have stated that Hawke was a despicable sell-out who saw decent honest men lose their jobs because he didn't like their industry.

Whitlam is - and remains - an appalling Socialist and the worst PM ever.
