problem down loading mp3 files
Dec 26th, 2015 at 1:47pm

New software installed today has caused a problem with down loading mp3 files.

Usually when I click on "save target as" with the files in mp3 format I get:
File name: whatever
Save as type: mp3 format

But now I get:
File name:
Save as type: Windows Media Player

I figured out a work around, where I drop the Save as type to All files and then add .mp3 to the file name.
But can anyone tell me how to change settings so as the Save as target screen auto recognises the file type as mp3?
Pleeeaase!

Are they actually MP3 format files though?

And, is it windows media player that you usually use to open the files?

Yes to 1.
I'm not sure to 2. But WMP is shown as the default program to open files with the .mp3 extension.
Could be though that programs installed as part of package today, not by me, incl QuickTime and RealAudio caused that to happen.
Package now uninstalled.

I used to download all kinds of music - but the copyright police have made it difficult.  I used to get all kinds of stuff from a Russian site... but they have sold out to a 'share' site... which is a pain because it will expect that any music on your computer is open to anyone to download... painful if you have limited uploads/downloads.

Never had trouble downloading MP3.

I have a Widow Media Player hijacker virus on my PC now.

It has blocked Chrome , instead of Chrome it opens Windows media player.

The only way I get on to the net at them moment is through my favourites.

I have emailed Kasperski to ask if they have a fix for it.
I google searched it and I am not smart enough to get rid of it.
