I believe similar things happen occasionally, but this particular case - nah.

A dishevelled, intoxicated man just stops his tirade when her friend 'confronted' him?  No mention of escalation or violence thereafter?  Not smacking likely.  That set the alarm bells ringing, then of course there's the fact the 'victim' is a young attractive female - the absolute least likely demographic to experience a problem in the first place - and then to push it firmly into the bounds of bullshit, the inexplicable absence of a single thirsty simp who'd stick up for a young, attractive female.  Yeah, I'm not buying it.

as a counter terrerorism expert consultant you should know the circumstances under which a suspect may have a cavity search performed legally. What are they?

Depends on which country you are in and where exactly you are.

The argument here is not about what is legal. It is what infringes on rights. The point that I'm making is that when you remove an important standard such as probable cause to search the belongings of someone out and about on their business, and you replace it with the standard of doing whatever the hell you feel like, then anything becomes possible. The power of the state becomes unrestrained. Liberty is most certainly lost.

Young Muslim women get attacked more often than Muslim men do, because Muslim women are far more visible than Muslim men are and are a weaker target.

That's one theory, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Don't expect the report on it being a hoax to be anywhere near as well publicised as the initial accusation though.

Oh I wouldn't be so sure Honky - plenty of people will be all over it like a rash, you can be sure of that.

So we should be prepared to have our anuses inspected on the street because we take the public safety thing too far and you have a fantasy of a wave of Muslim terrorists with explosives in their arse? And this is from a Muslim who works in counter-terrorism?

In a society where they don't give a damn about liberty that is willing to remove the standards to protect a person against unreasonable search and seizure anything is possible.

The circumstances are a wave of gay jihadis smuggling explosive up their arse. We should be prepared for this, according to certain Muslims who work in counter terrorism.

Hold up FD - Baron's about to post his favourite video of the sheikh giving theological justification for jihadists to engage in anal sex in order to widen the anal cavity sufficiently to stuff explosives up it.

Well it depends in which country but generally, if you're in an airport going through customs or immigration then they can do the search without probable cause. If you're out on the street they must have probable cause with exigent circumstances, and a warrant.

In the U.S.A. (which is pretty much a police state) the law can stop anyone for "RS" (Reasonable Suspicion) alone. And they can search you and detain you.

incorrect. Police  cannot perform cavity searches  under either of those situations. Try again.

I remember when after the Boston bombing some idiot in charge of Boston's airport gave the order that no racial profiling of suspected Muslims was to be exercised by the staff.

Political correctness was to be strictly adhered to in the search for possible terrorists amongst the incoming passengers.

That sort of person should be fired from the job and then given a Singapore whipping for knowingly endangering the lives of fellow-Americans and every one else.

I was working in Bankstown when the order came through to the police that they were no longer to stop-and-search people for hidden weapons on the basis of ethnicity and racial profiling.

This sort of abuse of commonsense and intelligent practice is why the West will never win the war on homeland terror. It hobbles the police and everyone else on the frontlne of trying to identify and apprehend society's enemies.

I remember at the time thinking that if the Arab community here in Australia and over there in Boston find it objectionable and unacceptable that they are a priority in the search for Muslim terrorists, then the only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that they are knowingly collaborating with the terrorists amongst them by having the security authorities banned from targetting people of their ethnic background.

If the vast majority of Muslim terrorists are red-headed Anglo-Saxon young men - then commonsense would have red-headed Anglo-Saxon young men pulled off the passenger lines for special attention at airports ... and it would be highly anti-social and uncooperative of red-headed Anglo-Saxons to petition the authorities to have this priority practice abandoned as a face-saver for their community.

These are your 'Moderate Muslims' who have objected to the practice of 'racial profiling' of passengers for the purpose of increasing the chance of discovering a terrorist.

This is where the plea that "We're Moderate Muslims and aren't given to extremist violence" shows itself to be utter bullshit in terms of helping the authorities be more effective in apprehending would-be terrorists.

To stop people and search them on the street for no other reason than their race or religion constitutes unreasonable search and seizure here in the US. It's against the law to do it and we're protected from it by the 4th Amendment.

I'm so glad I live in a nation that is free as opposed to a nation of drones that don't know what liberty is like Australia.

Free? African Americans might not agree.
