Hughes has been canned to serve out his sentence. Stop banging on about legalities, the show is over dumb, dumb.

yes exactly..

let the poo showers continue to rain down upon Hughes

its all he deserves

I do understand that within prisons, there is a system of (in)justice, but I reckon we (Society) have an obligation to protect all prisoners from it.

People are sent to prison as punishment....they have their freedom taken away, nothing more than that.  They are still entitled to the protection of the Rule of Law, and if there is a prisoner being abused beyond his sentence of loss of freedom, then that prisoner needs protection, and must be given it.  If that means the said prisoner has to be kept in more comfortable protective conditions than they would otherwise experience, said prisoner is not to blame......the blame lies with others.

The Judge's comments in this matter were appropriate, and I trust will be acted upon.

well..

not everyone thinks like that, in fact, most don't

no one gives a stuff if Hughes is showered in poop every single day of his incarceration

cept greggy and other defenders of injustice

now take a look at martin Bryant

a big fat 160kg jailbird bully bashing other prisoners and prison guards with paying off desperate jailbirds with chocolate bars for 'sexual" favours..

but hey, we must protect this piece of garbage that killed 35 people with 23 wounded

killing a mother and her child and also her 6 year old while trying to run away...

he killed 12 people in 15 seconds..

but hey..

what about Martin Bryant's rights?

get stuffed dickheads!!  Angry

So that is your surrender speech?  The acknowledgement that you dont know that much about law and the reason you are no longer a cop is that quite obviously you were a lousy one?

I would agree. The notion of extra-judicial punishment is unacceptable. I am however bemused that convicted murderers and other disgusting felons feel some kind of moral position to deliver 'rough justice'. The hypocrisy probably never occurs to them.

maria....When someone goes into prison, they are at the mercy of the system. You see murderers, thieves and other others have their own 'code' in prison. Those named are criminals but they are also parents.

There is a pecking order amongst the prisoners and at the bottom of the totem pole are 'rock spiders'. The name given to paedophiles and corrupters of children.

They are targeted, humiliated and given everything they can throw at them.

Now you being a learned academic, may not like this but 'that is the way it is', as Elvis used to say.

You go into prison as a 'rock spider' then you are going to get it in the neck.

No amount of legislation will change that.

I reckon you are not replying because you do not know.  You have been calling for these rights....and that sounds terrific.....but you will not list them.

I put on my law and justice hat and totally agree.  Take it off and I confess to not caring (in some cases).

Not saying I wish it upon the criminal, but if extra-judicial punishment is dished out, so be it.  Sounds an ugly view, I realise. I remember it originating when the Anita Cobby killers were dispensed rough justice.

That said, I do somewhat struggle with my ambivalence......

You could at least criticise it, but you think it is okay.

What do you think happens to you as a former cop if you go to prison?  The pedos with be throwing poop at YOU.

Did you know the Anita Cobby killers were unequivocally forgiven by the parents? Now that is the kind of forgiveness we dont see often.

That's not exactly "unequivocally" forgiving them in my mind.

maria I won't be going to prison, not now, not ever because even as a former Cop, I uphold the laws of the land, not abuse them!

PS The prison system is full to overflowing with the Criminal population.

It is fanciful to think that the authorities can have all the 'rock spiders' segregated from the rest of the general Prison population.  Logistically, it is impossible with the resources that they have.
