Good, The Windies are looking dead in the water.

I want to see us grind them to dust today.
Send them in to bat with under 2 hours to go.

3/438

Adam Voges (174) and Shaun Marsh (139) combined for an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 317 runs to push the home side to a mammoth day one score of 3/438.
It was the fourth highest day one score by an Australian team in Test history.

The Boxing day test in Melbourne will be a farce -

solution?

Give the West Indies a handicap of 3 extra players -

take them from 11 to 14 players.

Then we'll see a better game - worth watching.

The cricket authorities didn't listen to my advice -

expect a thrashing.

What if the Aussies have to bowl with a tennis ball and bat with a stump? That might make the game a bit more interesting.

Cannot lose.  If you get 300 runs on the first day with wickets in  hand, you cannot lose.

Maybe stick it up his arse. Going for his ton on the next ball, instead of waiting for a better ball. Not much of an impact bowler. Good fielder. Over rated.

As is right  Smiley

Quote:
Tired of a certain public perception, allrounder responds with mature, match-winning knock

Glenn Maxwell says he is fighting a constant battle to change public perception about his ability as a player, adding recent criticisms have hurt more than those from previous years.

Maxwell produced one of his best performances at international level on Sunday, steering Australia in a perfectly-timed pursuit of 296 that secured a unassailable 3-0 lead in the Victoria Bitter ODI series against India.

The allrounder was at his unorthodox best at times despite the size of the run chase, his tally of eight fours and three sixes including a trademark reverse sweep for four and some powerful lofted shots off the quicks back down the ground and into the stands.

Having carried the moniker of 'The Big Show' throughout the early part of his career and being renowned more for his audacious stroke play than any performances of substance, Maxwell has often been tagged as a player more interested in entertaining than producing big scores for his country.

And despite averaging more than 50 in one-day international cricket over the past 12 months, a streak that included a triumphant World Cup campaign, Maxwell believes he has a long road ahead to shake his reputation as a slogger.

"It's going to be a slow grind and I'm going to have to change a lot of people's perceptions about how I'm seen," he said after hitting 96 from 83 balls at the MCG.

"I'm hoping with some more innings like that people might start to forget about the stupid nicknames and that sort of thing and the hype and the trick shots.

"It's something I'm trying to change and it's something I'm really working on."

An international star in limited-overs cricket, Maxwell's ultimate aim is to add to the three Test matches he played between 2013 and 2014.

Quote:
...........On Friday night in Brisbane, Glenn Maxwell had a bit-role at the death of the chase, an unbeaten but altogether unremarkable cameo after the hard work had been taken care of by those further up the order. That wasn't the case on Sunday evening when entering with exactly half the work to do and less than half the time to do it.

Maxwell needed to combine his innovative best with utmost patience, especially when middle order wickets started falling around him. His 96 off 83 balls in knocking off India's 6 for 295 did precisely that.

How do you back away to the leg-side and slice spin over the longest rope at the MCG over point? It doesn't matter how, because he did. His first boundary was reverse swept, because that's what he does as well. Maxwell found gaps through the offside that don't exist for others, and put away any trash through the leg-side with a minimum of risk............

......... The same applies to Maxwell. Once you overcome that hurdle that he isn't like normal people, the pleasure derived from watching him play is boundless..................

Got home from work. Watched about 10 overs of India's innings. Saw that Kohli and Dharwan seemed to have things in order and on track, ready to have the game over by the 45th over. Thought "Shiiit" and annoyed that Australia don't have very good bowlers to shut these guys down. Went to bed for 2 hours. Got up to find that the Aussies won by 25 runs. Knew that getting those two out would be the key. But did not expect such a collapse.

No, we were lost.
They needed less than a run a ball with 9 wickets left and only 90 or so runs to get.

We got an opener out. A few dot balls ............ pressure just peeks in.

Amazing game. I went from being depressed and turning the radio off to beaming and 'Oh Yes' ing

An ABC Report:

Quote:
At one stage India was 1 for 277, needing a cruisy 72 from 75 balls. Then it collapsed in spectacular fashion, losing 9 for 46 in 12 overs to be bowled out in the last. From the rubble, coughing and caked in dust, emerged Kane Richardson with figures of 5 for 68.

Did you see any shifty looking Indian Bookmakers there, Colonel?

Pressure does that, especially if you are victim to a dud call on your first ball.

And the slaughtering he took in 2 overs. I hope that's the last we've seen of him as a strike bowler.

Oh, I've watched most of it.   But, when a batsman of his class starts slicing/under cutting.....he knows he is gonna get caught.

The finish to the WBBL was pretty good.

They make some screamer fielding mistakes tho.

I wonder if the quality of women's cricket will improve now its getting more TV coverage and perhaps a wider range of athletes will consider playing cricket.

Will probably get a lot of people going "get back in the kitchen" to many of these players, until they up the competitiveness. I do like to watch the games, but it's difficult to get in to games where many of the players can't even hit to the ropes that are 5 meters in from the men's boundary setting. The amount of effort that they put in to those hits that go just about nowhere. Even Alyssa Healy was lucky to be awarded 6 runs on a hit that landed on the boundary on the full. Always thought that those were awarded 4 runs.
