Too scared to buy a used car

Ok....the real reason for coming online today was to ask about buying a used car.

I've never done this before. Neither has my husband.

The car in question is a 2005 BMW series 5 sedan...formerly owned by my next door neighbour's wife. She no longer drives a car, so they now want to sell it.

I found out today that the car has around 100 000 km on the clock.

It's in great condition from what I can tell.

It would make a great car for my teenage daughter. At present, she is sharing a car with her twin brother and it's not really working out.

Issues

1. 10 yr old car (age plus I've never bought a used car before)

2. 100 000 km (sounds like it's done heaps)

3. V8 4.2 engine (I think Embarrassed

....anyway it sounds like it can go F A S T and may be expensive on petrol)

4. The neighbour wants ME to come up with a figure for us to examine together (talk about pressure lol)

Bottom line?

Yeah ok....but she's a level headed girl.....an up and coming lawyer doing very well at uni yadda yadda yadda.

Still....I think you may have a bloody good point Honky lol.

At this stage, I have said nothing about the car to her (or her brother).

If I mention it...she'll want it. Why? It's a shiny black car lol. NB For those who may not know....the colour of a car is everything when you're a teenage girl.
