It;s simply true that Sharia Law presents as different in different countries and regions. If you are not aware of that, i suggest you do some research.
Bollocks. There is one Koran, one Mohammed, one sharia.
You're behind the times Soren. Time to do a bit of homework.
Cheeses!! has there been a revised and updated edition of the Koran, in a new translation, showing the whole jihad caper as a gigantic minderstanding??
'Smite their necks' has been revised to mean 'give them a biscuit and a glass of milk"??
Do tell us more.
The following is a summary of the application of sharia by country.
Since the early Islamic states of the eighth and ninth centuries, sharia always existed alongside other normative systems.[1] Most Muslim-majority countries adopt various aspects of sharia. According to BBC, some countries adopt only a few aspects of Sharia, others apply the entire code.[2]
Within Sharia law, some crimes are known as the hudud crimes, for which there are specific penalties specified by Islam. For example, adultery is punished by stoning, fornication and the consumption of alcohol by lashing, and theft by the amputation of limbs.
Many predominantly Muslim countries have not adopted hudud penalties in their criminal justice systems.[2] Ali Mazrui stated that "most Muslim countries do not use traditional classical Islamic punishments".[3] The harshest penalties are enforced with varying levels of consistency.[4] The use of flogging is more common compared to punishments like amputations.[3]
