I cringed everytime I saw that ad with that cringeworthy Lara Bingle.

You should hear the radio ads that Fosters peddles in America.  Talk about embarrassing.

I wouldn't know because I don't drink beer.  Fosters peddle it in the USA as our most popular beer and the ads they inflict on the public over there would make a 'bogan' appear like royalty.

They should be ashamed.

Who remembers the 2000 Sydney OLYMPICS?

Initially I was a little embarrassed about everyone yelling "Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi."

Then .......

Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi does my head in.

I loathe it.

I recall that made its debut with the Australian Swimming Team during some World event in Canada a couple of decades ago.  I agree that it is and always was cringeworthy.

Yeas Dear, you did tell me to 'PISS OFF," and I didn't.  No-one owns any Thread, and I do not need your 'welcome mat' to post here.

Bugger, wot?

For many people that was a long time ago and particularly people in manual labour employment may not have had the need to revisit the lessons in decades.

I tend to get most of them right much of the time but occasionally stuff one up, I also spell terribly.

I find that some of the most literally correct posters typically have the worst grasp of content (tend to have a message that isn't worth the effort) and often have very low comprehension skills. They will reply beautifully to a post they didn't understand at all.

A number of people who have problems with grammar hit the nail on the head with their content, I prefer this to people making stupid posts with great grammar witch whitch which is rather common.

Precisely. You can't judge the content by how prettily it's wrapped.

The content is often lost if not wrapped reasonably well.

I am not talking about the odd spelling or grammatical mistake here and there.  It is still easy enough to read and understand the content.

Quite often though posts are long winded and riddled with spelling mistakes and poor grammar.  The most common being lack of punctuation.  If you have to wrinkle your brow and really concentrate in order to understand the content then, more often than not, the message will be lost.

I don't read these posts and I am guessing that I am not the only one.    Therefore their 'message', whatever it is,  is lost.

Yeah i  find big 'block' posts with no punctuation too hard to read most of the time.

Mothra: "Yeah i  find big 'block' posts with no punctuation too hard to read most of the time."

I take it this sentence's errors are meant to be ironic.

With those long winded posts you can tell, in the first paragraph, whether they will be worth reading. That is if such divisions have been applied. You can also tell whether or not a poster has the smallest grasp of English composition.

It is very easy to denigrate the appreciation of language with brave dismissals.

Reading and writing are our most important and fundamental accomplishments. In many walks of life, a person's command of the English Language, and their ability to present their ideas clearly and succinctly, will form a major contribution to their achievements.

I had an English Gram-ma in my lineage.

I think ill of those who would disparage her memory.

First it was apostrophes ......

And now .........
