English Grammar
Nov 3rd, 2015 at 5:22pm

Certain posters need to check this site out.  Typos are fine, but blatant grammatical errors are, obviously, inherited and show up your leftard background.

http://www.edufind.com/english-grammar/english-grammar-guide/

There are certain things that indicate a lack of education going back generations of leftard people.

Example:

"should of" (would of, could of).  It IS should HAVE. Also "payed" when it should be PAID.

There are many other examples  ....  I am sure that other posters will remember those who are almost illiterate and post their terrible English here.  Tongue

* Edited ... typo! Wink

Except that these days you have to allow for predictive text. I find mistakes I didn't make. Google made me do it.

But most of all, we haven't all had the benefit of the same education and we didn't all get the same start.
Doesn't mean you don't have the right to an opinion.

And highly educated opinions are not always the better ones anyway.

At the same time, we shouldn't allow stuff like txtese to completely destroy the beauty of well written English.

I'm sure there will be certain people that will continue to write in the old style.

I've read letters from men serving overseas in WWI....beautiful prose and magnificent use of the English language.

Compare one of hose letters and one from a man serving in Afghanistan, you'll be truly amazed at how quickly language changes.

Luckily we have libraries, we can always look back on the day......and reminisce.

I wasn't talking about texting "shorthand", that's fine.  I was talking about the way people speak (and, obviously, this comes out in their writing).  Australian Bogan.

I have seen (and heard) people say "I done" and "I seen" when it should be I did (or I have done) and I saw (or I have seen).  Plus lots of people say "yous" ... it all reflects upon your upbringing. When I hear people using these words, I cringe. No wonder Australians have a reputation of being low class and of criminal background.  You do not learn to use these words at school, you learn them from your parents (and grandparents).

Ah, the language of Shakespeare...almost unintelligible. But, if that's what you want, have at it.
