There is a long NBN thread here where I gave detailed links, all ignored by the RWNJs like Maria and roach.

The problem is that you claim these links but when asked to give them again, you refuse. Or worse, you link to FaceBook.

And then there is the problem that you are both a pathological liar and a fool. The evidence to this is your repeated claims that the polls are 50/50. You are a liar and a fool - all by your own words.

It looks like the 48mm cable that will run down the streets in HFC areas will be copper, the “last mile” of coax that makes up HFC.

While Longy gave us a laugh saying 48mm diameter copper cables would not exert any force or no no net force or some such rubbish it looks like new, stronger power poles will be needed.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Some facts:
Quote:
But in new submissions to the proposal made public this week, pole operators lent their voice to the chorus of dissent, arguing the increase in cable size would result both in safety and cost issues.

Endeavour Energy said the heavier cables were more likely to break a pole if snagged by a passing vehicle.

It also highlighted safety concerns, referring to a 2013 fatality associated with the removal of uninsulated electrical conductors similar to the HFC cables.

"If the [cables] are not properly installed and maintained there could be significant detriment caused to the safety of persons, the integrity of the power poles and the continuity of electrical supply," it argued [pdf].

"The MTM cabling assets now proposed for inclusion as low impact facilities are materially different to the existing fibre optic assets and this needs to be recognised."

I was right and Longy wrong. Crocodile was wrong too. Nice discussion in comments here: https://delimiter.com.au/2015/11/04/nbn-cto-pitches-5gbps-speeds-for-hfc-cable-m...

It would all be so much simpler and cheaper to just run out FTTH. How long are the idiots and dunderheads in the shambles going down this wrong path? The next Labor govt MUST hold an RC into this MTM treason!

A few more paras than that. I would pay to read more but Renai is not a balanced person. Takes a position then gets narky when his position is attacked. Banned a few people before who questioned his blind acceptance of the crap Malodorous was spouting.

Broadband traffic zooming, copper can’t keep up:

Quote:
The launch of Netflix has had a major impact on data volumes, with peering traffic through one provider jumping 50% — from four gigabytes per second to eight gigabytes per second.

The growth in data volumes is revealed by the latest indicators released by the Bureau of Communications Research (BCR) on Wednesday who say that “if industry research estimating the growth of subscription video on demand services is correct”, it estimates that by this December (2015) data download volumes will increase to 1.6 million terabytes over a three month period.

According to the BCR, based on Bureau of Statistics figures, total data consumption through fixed line networks grew from 140,000 terabytes from 1 April to 30 June 2010, to 1.35 million terabytes for the three months ending in June - driven by the use of streaming applications facilitated by faster‐speed technology.

And, the BCR points to what it says is an increasing shift of internet data from mobile networks to Wi-Fi, adding to fixed network data growth.

http://www.itwire.com/business-it-news/data/70310-data-growth-exploding-along-wi...

Most mobile devices, phones and pads have always used wifi to down and upload data but with increasing data traffic wifi is used more.

The MTM just cannot handle the fast–growing traffic. LOL the so–called CBA saying we only needed 23mbps in 2023  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
