I am glad you noticed that. Shorten and labor's polls haven't dropped. They plummeted and are still plummeting. Labor might wish for an election now so they can stop the fall, ditch shorten and try again for 2018.

How will ALP improve his likeability?

A failed assassination attempt may help.

Funny how they meant nothing the 2 previous years and now they seem the most important thing in the universe.

Its largely too early to use polls as an indicator, we are still in the depths of a Honeymoon period where the media is throwing the lightest softballs at Turnbull to knock out the park. I think honestly it would be best for Turnbull to call an early election.

I suspect Labor won't be in freefall once the Turnbull policies start rolling out. There is nothing you are going to do that will sugar coat penalty rate cuts, not even using IT buzzwords incorrectly.

I suspect the election will be very close with a Turnbull win. Either way whoever is handed the next election is given a poison chalice after Abbott and the Global Economy starting to sink.

There's a question mark over union officials who receive graft from companies during EBA negotiations and can't recall signing invoices.

Union officials? you should worry more about your elected officials.

Yet no problem with corporate executives bribing union officials.

Or corporations abusing workers and breaching OH&S.

Fairworks own study found 40% of service industry employees were victims of wage theft, where is the investigation into that?

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/07/inside-eb-games-when-the-dream-job-becomes-a-nightmare/

Not a single investigation into a major retail chain after this article.

The balance is tipped so in far for the employer its insane.

Corporate executives aren't asking for you to vote for them, are they?

The Libs exist last time I looked, and the Libs tend to put their corporate exec mates in public positions of power, Twiggy on welfare reform (wut!?), Ziggy on NBN (telecoms), Warburton on climate (F**ing what?)

Its disingenuous to say there is no corporate party when the Libs exist.

But wasn't it the AWU (all for the working man, hawk, spit) that dudded the cleaners and got them lower wages and the company paid the union fees, unbeknownst to the cleaners?

We don't know. Maybe the company simply couldn't afford higher wages and a compromise was met.

Union/company compromise and organization is something you would think should be celebrated, but nope. Goddamn, look at Germany, companies have union delegates on their boards.

Also a bit rich of the Libs crying about lessened penalty rates when they want to scrap penatly rates  Grin

Yep, and the union got union fees and the reps got a pay rise for doing such a good deal.

Edit: They couldn't even afford the status quo?

Our union has held up the signing of our EBA for six months to obtain training leave and expenses for union officials.  Thanks union.

I suspect most of these deals go down like this
"Okay we will accept a pay cut or status quo, but you have to pay the Union $10,000 which we will put towards training, materials etc etc"

Whatever the amount is far less than whatever the costs for raising wages (to an unsustainable level) and so the company takes the deal and the workers may be out of pocket, but they may get better training or representation or something.

Very easy for corruption to happen in such a deal of course, but trading off something for something else is all part of compromise.

I think the media is quick to jump onto "wrong doing" (which it can easily be, and can look like at face value) when there is likely to be a much more nuanced answer.

This is what gets me, Unions when they don't agree to such deals are "militant" but when they do they are "corrupt", that is how easy the campaign against Unions is, they are damned by the media no matter what.
