My partner went out and brought a bunch of stuff for the "trick or treating", which we have previously been unprepared for...

One visit...

ROFLMAO - I could swim in chocolate at the moment.

I think our four dogs played a contributing factor in me now having a big bowl of treats...

I am starting to like my Celtic heritage just a little bit more, at least while on the sugar high.

Hey Phem  Smiley

We've never done Halloween.

It's never played any part in our ethnic or religious cultural upbringing.

Sorry...we just can't relate to it on ANY level.

ahhh ... kids might have some fun ... of course Herb is opposed to it. Cheesy Cheesy

He's scared he might one day have to cough up for some lollies for the kids in his neigbourhood

I've always used the opportunity to unload some of my 5 cent pieces, but then when I smiled and revealed my stained and broken teeth to them, and pop out my glass eye and winked at them - the kids would run away screaming for their mothers ...

... and that's when I would take off my old torn and filthy raincoat and put it back into the wardrobe for next year.

I haven't had a single Hallowe'en door-knock for years now. Worked like a charm.  Wink

At least I was a little more subtle than Peter who lives opposite me. His strategy was to open the door and roar out "F**K OFF!" in a deep baritone voice that even had me frightened ...

Is that the same one you use for flashing at the railway station Herbie?

Get some lollies and stop being the grinch that stole Halloween.

This is from the poster who earlier wrote:

I certainly do.

Reply #5.....to keep the bastards honest

I hate Americanisms......but kids are kids so I buy a couple of bags of lollies to give out.

Besides, Einstein, it seems that Halloween was not born in the USA after all.

Who said it was? You 'hate Americanisms' but are quite comfortable with 'the grinch that stole Halloween'.

You just described the Herb costume. Scary one at that.

Tell me Herb, do you celebrate anything?

Last night my kid went out and a woman who's door he knocked on with his friends was dressed up as a clown and sprayed them all with silly string.

She didn't have to give them anything to give them a thrill.

Ha!

Unfortunately......that hasn't worked for me.

I'm 45.....and bloody proud of it.

Why?

One of my cousins (by marriage) died of cancer in her early 30's.

She left behind a 2 yr old and a 4 month old.

Bloody awful stuff. Anyway, I now appreciate every birthday and every year of life God gives me.

Sorry to hear that.
