Originated in England with Guy Falkes.
Not sure of religious history..I always thought it political.

Hallowed Evening. Hallowe'en is All Saints Day. I am astonished by the chronic lack of general knowledge.

Your overlooking Samhein. It pre-dates All Saints Day by a long, long time.

exactly... wasnt there a serial murderer in America who dressed like a clown... I mean it seems to me they are begging for trouble.

A Stephen King book - 'It' - one of his best.

But then there was that small town public figure who took a hankering to raping boys and then burying them under his house - over 30 of them, I believe.

Horrible thing. You do like to dwell on the cheery aspects of life, don't you Herbie?

Anyway, what does that have to do with Halloween?

Well ... it's 6 O'Clock - and I've just been 'owned' by the nicest and sweetest bunch of kids you could ever find knocking at your door.

Beautifully mannered, very cleverly dressed and made up, and ... I gave them a handful of 5 cent pieces to sort out amongst themselves.

Umm ... yeah ...  Embarrassed

But year after year, millions of people enjoy Halloween with no unpleasant consequences.

Do you have some evidence of crime spikes through Halloween?

well, my boys did well ... about 1kg of lollies each. I guess there are less miserable old men in my neighborhood then in Herbs.

Funnily enough they weren't very hungry at dinner time.

Don;t know how my little fella went. He's off to his first ever Halloween party sleepover. They were going trick-or-treating in a bunch.

The daughter is too cool for trick-or-treating now. She's off to a bigger kids party.

The house is quiiiiiiieeeeeet.
