Domestic violence is not necessarily about wife/husband getting physically violent.  It usually begins with one or the other throwing verbal insults at each other and progresses from that.

Domestic violence means one partner treating the other partner like crap. IF it goes on, then, often and eventually "MURDER" is the eventual outcome.

Husbands AND wives are equally able to do this.  Some of us leave before it gets to that and as I have said, it was lucky that I didn't take a knife to the arsehole ... I walked out, with NOTHING and got nothing monetary from him. He never saw his daughter again until she was 19 and checked up on him with the help from a friend of mine. I had never ever said anything bad about him ... I encouraged her to call him but he hung up.

He is now dead .... since 2006. He left nothing of importance and I presume died a pauper since nobody wanted to pay for his funeral.

I think he was a latent gay. My daughter says as much. We know he was a trannie. There was evidence of that!  How effing sad.  He used to be quite important and earned heaps of money too.

Beat that, AG.  Wink

Latent gay? I think my ex was too.

He may have had an elite private Catholic school upbringing....but he fessed some awful stuff about his school days during abuse sessions.

Certain Christian brothers back in the late 60's did stuff to him and other students in his year.

That left these students angry, confused and on a path to ruination and suicide. Yep...suicide.

Subsequent relationships with women? Useless on every level!!

I don't know how much of it has really come out in the media or in any Royal Commission.

I'm in contact with 4 wives of the same school and school years he attended.

They have a similar story to mine.

Needless waste of life.

RIGHT!

My abusive ex-husband went to the exclusive Melbourne Scotch College from the age of 4 through to 18. He was a Boarder all that time. His parents lived in Toorak (Melbourne) but they travelled a lot. So ... he was "unloved".

Last year, I received a letter in the mail from the Scotch College Archive Department, asking for me an update. I was surprised that he hadn't lied and was, in fact, a Boarder at Scotch College from age 5 to 18.

I emailed back the various stuff, and that he had died, suddenly, in December 2006.

I now (today) read that Scotch College has some "problems" with "abuse" of the boys.

Now ........ people, does being smacked for being "naughty" as a child, make you an ABUSIVE PERSON?  Or is that a "good excuse"?

Please discuss.

Okay.  Why was it called Melbourne Scotch College?  I thought the only thing called scotch which came out of Scotland was the whisky.  Everything else was Scots.

No... that makes you an abused child...

There are no "good" excuses. That said, there are plenty of excuses...

Of course, I am not sure how that question actually relates to the rest of your post...

After all, have you considered he may have been far more seriously than being "smacked" for being "naughty" (whatever that means...)? There may, after all, be even worse things that he did not disclose to you...

Even so, is that a"good excuse" for beating you? Nope no such thing... Nothing justifies violence.

The abuse suffered may account for some self justification, lack of understanding and/or self regulation, no acceptable excuse in any of that though to be clear...

Arsie is, OBVIOUSLY, a Low Class Queenslander from a low, labor class, background ....  and has absolutely NO IDEA about the Society in Melbourne.

The SCHOOL you attended in Melbourne is MOST IMPORTANT.

Going to (FREE) Uni In Queensland and getting an Arts/Law Degree is almost worthless. ANYONE can do that, even Mongos.

Not sure what relevance any of that has to my question/comment.  Is that the explanation?  Come on!

After you left this bloke, did you have any ongoing contact with him.  I think you indicated not, as you said (was it you?) that after you left he did not see his daughter you had sole custody of.

(BTW, I do not have an Arts degree, and I have never said I had one.)

I AM of the same Class as my former husband. You are of a much LOWER class.

We are discussing domestic violence.
