Israeli terrorist wounded in West Bank attack

Thu Dec 10, 2015

A former member of an Israeli terrorist organization has been shot and wounded alongside his wife in a drive-by shooting in the West Bank.

Shaul Nir, who used to serve the so-called Jewish Underground, sustained serious injuries in the shooting near the northwestern West Bank city of Tulkarem on Wednesday evening. His wife, Rachel Nir, was lightly wounded.

The assailants fled the scene, and Israeli police forces have launched an operation to arrest them.

The terrorist group to which Shaul Nir belonged carried out a series of terror attacks, including car bomb attacks, against Palestinian officials, and its highest profile plot was to destroy the Dome of the Rock in al-Quds (Jerusalem).

Nir, together with three other members of the terrorist group, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the 1983 shooting attack on the Islamic College in al-Khalil (Hebron) and attempted assassinations. His sentences were controversially commuted three times by then president Chaim Herzog, and he was released after serving less than seven years.

Separately on Wednesday, a Palestinian was shot and killed after allegedly stabbing two Israelis in al-Khalil.

Tensions between Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip are showing no sign of abatement. The wave of unrest was triggered by Israel’s imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers, who frequently storm the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam. The Palestinians say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.

‘No-Grow Zone’: Israel Admits to Spraying Poisons Inside Gaza Strip

29.12.2015

The Israeli Army has admitted that they used crop-dusters to kill hundreds of acres of Palestinian crops, claiming that it was to “enable security operations.”

“For years now, the IDF has unilaterally maintained a lethal ‘no-go zone’ on the Palestinian side of the border with Gaza. Now, it seems, it has also implemented a ‘no-grow zone,’” Michael Schaeffer Omer-Man wrote for +972.

Israeli planes were seen spraying the toxins for several days straight, destroying spinach, pea, parsley and bean crops.

“The aerial spraying of herbicides and germination inhibitors was conducted in the area along the border fence last week in order to enable optimal and continuous security operations,” an IDF Spokesperson told +972 on Sunday.

Along the Gaza border, there is a “no go” zone, where at least 16 Palestinians have been killed and another 379 wounded for entering. Palestinian people often claim that those shot were not actually within the zone, and the Israeli military rarely claim any of their victims were actually armed.

The distance the ‘no go’ zone reaches varies by area, and is often unclear. For example, farmers are allowed to go closer to the fence, but it is unclear how they distinguish between farmers, civilians, and “combatants.”

“Spraying crop-killing pesticides, like opening fire at people of all ages and gender in the vicinity of the fence, puts civilian lives at risk and hurts livelihoods,” Shai Grunberg, spokesperson for Gisha, an Israeli rights group that works to promote freedom of movement for Palestinians in Gaza, told 972+. “By virtue of Israel’s substantial control of the Gaza Strip, international law requires it to facilitate normal life in the Strip."

Russia to Provide Up to $5.3Mln in Humanitarian Aid to Palestine - Decree

02.12.2015

According to a document on the official Russian legal information Internet portal, Dmitry Medvedev instructed the country’s Foreign Ministry to provide up to $5.3 million in humanitarian aid to Palestine.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed the country’s Foreign Ministry to provide up to $5.3 million in humanitarian aid to Palestine, a document on the official Russian legal information Internet portal said Wednesday.

According to the decree, the Russian Foreign Ministry was ordered to coordinate conditions and methods of providing humanitarian aid with Palestine’s authorities.

Humanitarian aid is expected to be delivered to Palestine by the end of 2015, the decree said.

Palestine is involved in a long-standing conflict with Israel over the latter's inability to recognize the independent State of Palestine, on the territories of West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

Israel seized most of the areas claimed by Palestine during the Six-Day War in 1967, refusing to recognize the State of Palestine as an sovereign nation.

DNA Science: Palestinians Have More Israelite DNA Than Do the Khazar Jews

Are Palestinians the True Racial Jews?

“The true heirs of Judah are the persistent inhabitants who still occupy Jerusalem and the Holy Land, that is, Palestinians.”

dnaconsultants.com
March 23,2013
“My ancestry might not move in the direction of ancient Israel at all... It may well be that many East European Jews are descended from Khazars... I may be one of them.”

Isaac Asimov
It’s Been A Good Life (2002)

History, archaeology, and DNA science are strange and persistent things. They refuse to bend and bow before myth and fable. They follow the laws of God, which ordain truth be established in all things. Consider the following truths that have now been discovered by history, archaeology, and DNA science.

Almost all the people who claim they are “Jews” today are Khazars. Their origins are in the Kingdom of Khazaria. None are descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. None have Israelite blood. Their ancestors are not the people of the Old Testament nor are they the people that populated Israel in Jesus’ day. They have no connection whatsoever with the Land of Israel. They immigrated to Palestine from Poland, Russia, and other Eastern European countries. There they changed it’s name to “Israel” and pretended to be racial Jews. They are Jews only by conversion, not by race.

The Palestinians today are physically the closest to being Israelites. The genetic markers for many say their ancestral origins are Judah, what we call Israel. Their ancestors were, in fact, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They are Moslems today but their ancestors were Judahites who, over the centuries, converted to Islam. They are the true heirs of Judah, the ancestral seed of Abraham. If Christians wish to support the children of Israel, they should switch their allegiance immediately to the Palestinians.

These truths are shocking, to say the least. But there they are, like Mount Everest. They stand erect, towering, and no man can remove them. To deny the truth of DNA science is like ignorantly claiming that the world is flat.

Heretics and Unbelievers

What a reversal of fortunes for the so-called Zionist “Jews.” I have to believe that God arranged this mind-boggling situation to confound the unbeliever and the heretic. The Khazar Jew is today’s heretic; the evangelical Christian Zionist (“Judaizer”) is the unbeliever.

The Khazar Jew is a heretic not because he is not an Israelite, but because he or she rejects Jesus as Lord and has concocted all kind of religious myths and fables to prevent would-be followers from believing in Him. The Babylonian Talmud of the Khazar Jews, their most holy book, claims Jesus is a liar, a blasphemer, a magician and witch, even a bastard. Is anyone reading this that does not believe this is heresy?

Myths of the Jew

The Khazar pretender Jew has long romanticized the “Jew.” The claim is that the poor Jews went into exile some 1900 years ago, after Roman General Titus invaded and conquered Jerusalem. During this supposed exile, the Jews are said to have been deported to Rome and to other world cities, where they have been for all these years, terribly persecuted by the Christians. Finally, in 1948, they returned to the Holy Land, ready to reassume their glorious reign as “God’s Chosen People.”

This is all myth. Pure hogwash. As Dr. Shlomo Sand (Invention of the Jewish People, 2009) and many other historians have proven, the vast majority of Jews never left Israel. There was no general exile. They are still in Israel. Most converted to Islam. Today, they are called Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the world’s top genetic scientists—Dr. Eran Elhaik, Dr. Ariella Oppenheim, Dr. Martin Richards, and many others—have discovered that the “Jews” of today have little or no Israelite blood. Instead, they come from Khazaria and Europe and are descendants of Jewish converts.

Historians and Archeologists Say the “Jews” Are Khazars

The historians chime in on the Khazar issue. Virtually every historian now records that the so-called “Jews” are blood-related to the ancient Khazars. The most famous historical writer is, of course, Arthur Koestler (The Thirteenth Tribe, 1976), but he is joined by many others. As Shlomo Sand, professor at Tel Aviv University, has written, “Prior to the 1960s, almost all historians, including Zionist ones, cited this position.” In other words historians almost uniformly agreed that the “Jews” are Khazars.

Dr. Sand names among these historians Ben-Zion Dinur, called the father of Israel history; the great historian Marc Bloch; and Abraham Polok, founder of the department of Middle Eastern history at the University of Tel Aviv. All believe the Jews to be Khazars.

Archaeologists, too, now profess that Khazaria is the home and birthplace of the Turkic people who today call themselves “Jews.“ Only the hard core, reprobate Zionists who deny modern history and archaeology and who demean the sure accuracy of DNA science are holdouts to the truth. It fits their preconceived notions and ideology that the Jews are a homogeneous, unified race kept together all these years by Jehovah for a holy purpose. That holy purpose, they contend, is the ascension of the Jew to the peak of world power and money.

The Zionist fanatics refuse truth because they, the Zionists, cannot prosper from it. As Khazars they can no longer exact billions by making Gentiles feel guilty, and the Zionists can no longer demand that the Land of Israel become their sole possession. Better to insist on a prosperous fable than accept the incontrovertible truth.

The Christian Zionist: Unbelief Made Plain

In bed with the greedy Zionist Khazar is the Christian Zionist, or Judaizer. He, too, believes in the magical fairytale of the preservation of the exclusive Jewish race all these centuries.

Such a poor and pitiful soul must, of necessity, misinterpret the words of the Old Testament but neglect and disregard the clear and truthful New Testament. Thus, the Christian Zionist pays no attention to the words of Jesus, who castigated the Jews, “Ye are of your father the devil” (John 8:44). They also refuse to believe that Jesus flatly told the Jews, “The Kingdom of God shall be taken from you” (Matthew 21:43).

“No, no, no, no!” cries the Christian Zionist.

Then, Jesus said the prophetic words that no Christian Zionist can bear to repeat. He told the Jews directly: “Your house is left unto you desolate” (Matthew 23:38 and Luke 13:35).

Yes, Jesus prophesied that even the Jewish temple would be destroyed, with not one stone remaining upright. (Goodbye, dear myth of the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, which is a remnant not of the Jewish Temple, but of the old Roman fort, Antonia).

Yes, Jesus uttered these incredible words of prophetic truth: “Your house is left unto you desolate.” That’s it. Desolate means of no value, thus finished, over. The Jewish epoch was completed. The time for Jesus to be crucified and to rise was at hand. The Age of Christianity and the New Covenant was to commence.

Now Everything Changes!

So now we come to the modern discoveries of history and archaeology, and yes, DNA science. We know now the amazing truth. That there is Israelite blood running through many Palestinian’s veins, but none in the veins of those who say they are Jews.

We know, too, that the Khazars, beginning in 1948, used the old myths and fables and what the Apostle Paul called, “the foolishness of genealogies” (I Timothy 1:4; Titus 3:9) to wrest the lands, homes and businesses away from the Palestinians who first owned them. They tortured and killed many who objected to their reign of terror. They continue to torture and kill Palestinian victims.

So now the truth is made manifest, and we know that truth. Listen, Zionist Christians and Khazar Jews: You can scream, holler, tear off your clothes, demonstrate all you want. You cannot hold back the truth any longer. The “Jews” are not the seed of Abraham (Galatians 3:16, 26, 29). The Palestinians, in fact, have more Israelite DNA. The Palestinians are the true racial Israel. Now everything changes.

Israel nabbed 100s of kids in 2015: Rights group

Mon Jan 11, 2016

The majority of the Palestinians arrested by Israeli regime forces in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in 2015 were children, among them minors under the age of 14, says a prisoner’s rights group.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Center for Studies said in a report on Sunday that the Tel Aviv regime detained over 1,900 Palestinians in 2015. Two-thirds of the detainees, it said, were minors, 65 of whom were put under house arrest.

A spokesman for the group, Riyad al-Ashqar, denounced the regime’s use of house arrests against the Palestinian children who are under the age of 14. He said the regime “turns the child’s house itself to a prison and the family members to wardens.”

In November, Israel approved a bill that would allow custodial sentences for minors from 12 years of age for committing “nationalistically-motivated” crimes. The regime also fines the families of children convicted of such crimes.

In October 2015, the number of Palestinian children in Israeli custody reached 307. The number had been 155 at the end of August last year.

The Defense for Children International Palestine (DCIP), another rights group, said Israeli detention centers have so far failed to meet international standards. The Palestinian child detainees are denied family visitations and even forced into solitary confinement.

2 Palestinians killed at checkpoint after alleged stab attempt

Jan. 10, 2016

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces on Saturday shot and killed two Palestinian men at the al-Hamra military checkpoint in the northern Jordan Valley, witnesses said.

Witnesses told Ma’an that the two men were stopped at the checkpoint -- also known as Beqaot -- and asked by military forces to exit their vehicle, at which point the forces shot them dead.

The witnesses said they did not see the men wielding knives, and told Ma’an the two were “killed in cold blood.” The men sold wholesale goods and were reportedly on their way to distribute merchandise to grocery shops, witnesses added.

An Israeli army spokeswoman told Ma’an that two assailants attempted to stab Israeli soldiers stationed at the security crossing who opened fire in response to the attack.

The two Palestinians received medical treatment on site but were pronounced dead, the spokeswoman said.

No Israelis were injured in the incident.

The men were identified as as 26-year-old Ali Abu Maryam from the village of al-Jadida and 38-year-old Said Abu al-Wafa from the village of al-Zawiya, both southwest of Jenin in the northern West Bank.

The al-Hamra military checkpoint is located in the eastern outskirts of the Nablus district, south of the illegal Israeli settlements of Beqaot and Roi.

Israeli military checkpoints -- over 100 of which stand permanently across the occupied West Bank -- have been site to several attacks carried out by Palestinian individuals since a wave of unrest spread across the area in October.

Israeli military forces as well as civilians have been targeted in knife, vehicular, and shooting attacks that have left over 20 Israelis dead since Oct. 1. Nearly 150 Palestinians have been killed during the same time period.

Four Palestinians between the ages of 16 and 19 were shot dead in two separate incidents on Thursday after Israel's army said they attempted to stab Israeli soldiers at the Gush Etzion and Beit Einun junctions.  No Israelis were injured in either reported attack.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response said the deaths marked a “dangerous escalation" and condemned the “continuous series of crimes and field executions by Netanyahu’s government against Palestinians."

Investigations into a number of recent Palestinian deaths concluded that Israeli policy implemented since the increase in attacks has resulted in unnecessary Palestinian deaths, according to international rights group Amnesty International.

Philip Luther, the group's Middle East and North Africa director, said following the increase in attacks in October that "intentional lethal force should only be used when absolutely necessary to protect life."

"Instead we are increasingly seeing Israeli forces recklessly flouting international standards by shooting to kill in situations where it is completely unjustified,” the director said.

Saturday’s alleged attack marks the second such incident at the al-Hamra checkpoint in the most recent wave of violence, with the majority of attacks taking place closer to the cities of Nablus, Ramallah, and Hebron.

Israeli Armed Forces Target Child with Bullet North of Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, January 11, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Monday directly hit a Palestinian child with a bullet in the village of Hizma, north of Jerusalem under the pretext of hurling stones at a bus carrying Israeli settlers.

According to witnesses from the village, 12 –year-old Qusai Nimr sustained injuries after being targeted with a bullet in his lower body.

Nimr was transferred to Ein Kerem hospital and is currently under arrest.

According to Defense for Children, “injuries are frequently sustained when children are arrested, transferred and detained in interrogation centers or prisons.”

Since the beginning of unrest and clashes in October 2015, over 25 Palestinians children and minors were killed and hundreds other sustained injuries ranging from suffocation to physical injuries.

Free to frisk: New Israeli law gives cops green light to stop & search public without reason

2 Feb, 2016

Police in Israel have been told they can stop and search any resident they choose, even if the person has not been behaving suspiciously. The legislation adopted by the Knesset has caused an outcry among opposition groups, who say it will increase discrimination.

The law had previously stated that police officers were only allowed to search someone if they had sufficient reason to believe that the person could be carrying a weapon. Nissan Slomiansky, a member of the Knesset, also stated that the legislation made sure that officers could only stop an individual if they could visibly see a bulge in the person’s clothing that suggested they could be hiding a knife or gun, the Times of Israel reported.

The bill was passed by the Knesset following a vote of 39 in favor to 31 against.

It will now mean that police will be able to search an individual without reasonable suspicion and solely based on a judgment that a person could be about to carry out a terror attack.

Some Knesset members believe this will be an open invitation for the law enforcement authorities to further discriminate against minority groups

“The coalition is once again flagrantly ignoring the daily distress of weak groups, who suffer serious discrimination in Israel,” said MK Michal Rozin, according to the Times of Israel.

“Police are no less racist than anyone else. Whoever says he or she doesn’t see color is the biggest racist of all,” she added, mentioning that Arabs and immigrants from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union were likely to face extra checks.

However, Slomiansky added that the new legislation struck the right balance between the need for police to ensure security and the public to feel their rights were not being infringed on.

The bill was originally passed by the Israeli cabinet in October, with its sponsor saying it was necessary to deal with the sharp rise in violence in the country.

“Following recent terrorist attacks, there is an urgent need to give the police authority to conduct body searches to better deal with knife terrorism,” Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, who proposed the amendment, said, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“This is another step I am promoting in a series of decisions to strengthen the police and its authority to increase personal security on the streets,” he added.

October witnessed the start of weeks of almost daily stabbings, shootings and attacks by Palestinians who targeted Israelis due to their frustration at the inability of the Israeli government to agree to a two-state solution and at Israel blocking access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The violence began to subside in January. However by January 14, at least 144 Palestinians and 24 Israelis had been killed in 10 weeks of violence.

Israeli Arabs often face discrimination in Israel, such as being restricted in their attempts to buy property or even in schools.

In October, a father from a Beer Sheva kindergarten in southern Israel went on a hate-filled racist rant in a WhatsApp group for parents. He called for an Arab Bedouin girl, who was just three years old, to be expelled, saying “scum must be isolated.”

“If there is an Arab kid in the kindergarten it’s time to expel him!” the parent started off, before suggesting that “She has no place in the Jewish State… she should study in her village. Go to Syria; they love you there, Assad is waiting.”

Israel's International Conspiracy

Nearly every western country has an Israel lobby

February 9, 2016

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom recently suggested an inquiry into a surge in Israel’s reported extra-judicial killing of Palestinian demonstrators after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for a harsh response and told his police and soldiers that those opposed to the continued occupation of the West Bank were “terrorists.” Almost immediately, the Israeli government denounced Wallstrom as engaging in “political stupidity,” banning her from travel to Israel, while one newspaper close to the government suggested that she might be assassinated, as fellow Swede Count Folke Bernadotte was by Jewish militants in 1948, because anti-Semitism appears to be in the Swedish DNA.

All of that outrage and personal ridicule is pro forma for an Israeli government that reflexively smears and denigrates any and all critics, but the more interesting epilogue was the unanticipated discovery by the Swedish and international media that Wallstrom has not been paying the full rent on the subsidized government apartment that she occupies. The revelation follows a familiar pattern, where critics of Israel suddenly find themselves being discredited for something completely unrelated to the Middle East. President George H. W. Bush (the good Bush) suffered a similar come to Jesus moment in 1991 when he went on national television to denounce the pressure tactics of the Israel lobby. The Israeli government was demanding U.S. Treasury backed loans to construct illegal settlements. President Bush, who was running for reelection and far ahead in the opinion polls, suddenly was confronted by a well-funded and organized opposition raising doubts about him and his record. And President Bush was not reelected, presumably learning along the way that one does not trifle with the Israel Lobby, to be replaced by the enthusiastically Zionist Bill Clinton.

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is also wondering about Israel’s alleged commitment to peace. On Tuesday he said “it was human nature to react to occupation,” following up with a comment on Wednesday regarding Israel’s “stifling” occupation of Palestine. Netanyahu reacted with his usual over the top rhetoric, stating that Ban “was encouraging terror.” One might also anticipate, as in the case of Wallstrom, a well-orchestrated media blitz questioning Ban’s motives or explaining how he has always been a closet anti-Semite. It is par for the course and fully expected when one criticizes Israel.

Indeed, it is a global phenomenon. Wherever one goes – Western Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United States – there is a well-organized and funded lobby ready, willing and able to go to war to protect Israel. Most of the organizations involved take at least some direction from officials in Tel Aviv. Many of them even cooperate fully with the Israeli government, its parastatal organizations and faux-NGOs like the lawfare center Shurat HaDin. Their goal is to spread propaganda and influence the public in their respective countries of residence to either hew to the line coming out of Tel Aviv or to confuse the narrative and stifle debate when potential Israeli crimes are being discussed.

Israel’s diaspora allies are backed up by a formidable government organized machine that spews out disinformation and muddies the waters whenever critics surface. The Israeli Foreign Ministry has a corps of paid “volunteers” who monitor websites worldwide and take remedial action and there is a similar group working out of the Prime Minister’s office. That is why any negative story appearing in the U.S. about Israel is immediately inundated with pro-Israel comments, many of which make exactly the same coordinated points while exhibiting the same somewhat less than perfect English. On sites like Yahoo they are actually able to suppress unwelcome comments by flooding the site with “Dislike” responses. The sayanim, local Jews in their countries of residence, are essential to this process, having been alerted by emails from the Israeli Foreign Ministry about what to do and say. The reality is that Israel has lost the war of public opinion based on its own actions, which are becoming more and more repressive and even inhumane and so are difficult to explain. That means that the narrative has to be shifted by Israel’s friends through subterfuge and the corruption of the information process in each country. In some places the key media and political players who are engaged in the process can simply be bought. In other places they can be intimidated or pressured into taking positions that are neither in their own countries’ interests nor morally acceptable. In large countries like the United States, Britain and France a combination of friendly suasion and coercive elements often come together.

In all cases, the objective is the same: to repress or misrepresent any criticism of Israel and to block any initiatives that might be taken that would do damage either to the Israeli economy or to the country’s perceived standing in the world. In some countries Israel’s advocates work right out in the open and are highly successful in implementing policies that often remain largely hidden but that can be discerned as long as one knows what to look for.

Recent Israel Lobby activity in the United States has included legislation at state levels to make illegal divestment from Israel or to promote boycott of Israeli products. A trade pact with Europe will reportedly include language requiring the United States to take retaliatory action if any European country tries to boycott Israel, to include the West Bank settlements, which the empowering legislation regards as part of Israel proper.

Israel is also working to create a mechanism for global censorship of the internet to ban “incitement,” which clearly is a euphemism for material that is critical of its policies. Recently Facebook has begun to delete from its site any “hate speech” and “terrorism” related material but what has not been widely noted is that the apparent restrictions also have involved sites critical of Israel including Christians United for Peace.

Many prominent critics of the American Israel Political Action Committee (AIPAC) are unaware that AIPAC exists in various forms in a number of other countries. BICOM , the Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre, is located in London. The French equivalent is the Conseil Representatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF). In Canada there is a Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) , in Australia a Zionist Federation of Australia and in New Zealand a Zionist Federation of New Zealand .

While AIPAC is specifically focused on the U.S.-Israel relationship, its counterparts in Europe often deal with a whole range of issues that they define as Jewish, but protecting Israel is always part of their agenda, particularly for those groups that label themselves as Zionist. The political power and financial muscle of the groups gives them access to government far beyond the actual numbers of their supporters. In France this has led to the legislation of hate crimes that de facto exist to protect Jews that have been also been interpreted as limitations on one’s ability to criticize Israel. In its most recent test, a French court declared that a peaceful protest promoting Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) directed against Israel was illegal.

Many believe that France now has less free speech than any other European country. Recently, the alleged humor magazine Charlie Hebdo, ran a revolting cartoon showing the little Syrian boy Alan Kurdi who drowned in Turkey last summer as all grown up and sexually assaulting a woman in Germany. There was considerable outrage throughout the world but no sign that the French government will do anything to prosecute the magazines since it was Muslims who were being ridiculed. Charlie Hebdo frequently insults Muslims (and also Christians) but rarely lampoons Jews.

In Britain, Jewish organizations uniquely are allowed to patrol heavily Jewish neighborhoods in police-like uniforms while driving police type vehicles and there have been reports of their threatening Muslims who enter the areas. Prime Minister David Cameron’s government, which is responsive to a Conservative Friends of Israel lobbying group, has also done its part to create official barriers to any spread of the BDS movement. It is proposing legislation that will enable it to overrule decisions by local government councils that seek to cut business or investment ties with Israel and, more particularly, Israeli settlements, under the pretext that such action interferes with the conduct of foreign affairs. The British government is also considering its own brand of hate speech legislation, banning from social media any commentary that is considered to be anti-Semitic, which will almost certainly extend to criticism of Israel.

Canada’s government has also threatened to use hate speech laws to block criticism of Israel and forbid BDS related activity. Australia meanwhile, has ceased referring to east Jerusalem as “occupied” and is apparently leaning towards similar “non-pejorative” language relating to the militarized occupation of the West Bank, preferring the neocon favored dodge “disputed.” New Zealand has proposed Israeli-Palestinian peace talks that specifically demands that participants “refrain from referring a situation…to the International Criminal Court,” which would effectively decriminalize war crimes committed by both sides during the two recent invasions of Gaza. As a United Nations investigation determined that Israel was disproportionately responsible for what did occur, the proposal eliminates accountability and is effectively a get out of jail free card for some Israeli government officials.

And so it goes. Criticize Israel and there will be a comeuppance by virtue of a highly developed international system that relies on government direction as well as volunteer supporters who are able to shape both the media message and the political response. Accepting that as a given, I suppose one should be proud of being called an anti-Semite every time the label is misapplied to stifle dissent, but it all sadly reflects a lowering of the discussion to a dirt level. This might just be because there is no justification for Israeli behavior. The fact is that in terms of systematic human rights violations Israel is something beyond an apartheid state, frequently engaging in open racism and, in the opinion of many observers, crimes against humanity. It is furthermore a persistent source of instability in the Middle East and even beyond.

Israel is a liability to the United States and to the European nations that it has successfully manipulated into acquiescence regarding its bad behavior. When AIPAC and its overseas clones act for Israel the host nations in which these organizations exist should recognize exactly what is taking place. If Israel is truly first in their hearts and minds that is perfectly acceptable but its advocates should perhaps consider moving there and letting the rest of us be. Would that be too much to ask?
