French officials have said delivery will take place in March 2016 and that Egypt will pay EUR950 million (USD1 billion) for the two ships, which is the same amount as France has agreed to pay Moscow as compensation for the cancellation of the contract due to the imposition of EU sanctions on Russia over the Ukraine conflict. Russia ordered the vessels in June 2011 for EUR1.2 billion.
