As ABC's Lateline puts it:
"Environmentalists used to fight against chain saws, bulldozers and poisons. Now they're fighting 'invasive' species of plants and animals - with the help of chain saws, bulldozers and poisons. Who benefits? Mainly the company that was once their sworn enemy - Monsanto."
http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/latenightlive/greens/6764174There has been a focus by conservation groups in recent times on removing non-indigenous plant species everywhere in what turns out to have been a mistaken belief that they are a threat to biodiversity.
The research which has led to this action turns out to have been carefully stage-managed by Monsanto and other leading herbicide manufacturers.
The result is that green groups everywhere have been out spraying Round-up with gay abandon (not the lesbian activist), especially along river banks, no doubt killing every plant species within arm's length.
In New Zealand, there has even been arial spraying along rivers, with run off a threat to aquatic life.
Meanwhile the likes of Monsanto has been enjoying bumper sales of its herbicide.
Trust the Greens? Sure can of herbicide.
