how about i'm sick of all of this chopping and changing and so is everybody else. the parties who play these stunts don't do themselves any favors. the liberals ran against labor last election and won partially on the basis that they were the "pro-stability" party now they're just pulling the same crap labor was. turnbull won't last.

lifes a bitch ain't it

not that I disagree with you. The people go to an election with ONE candidate as a PM, that candidate should serve his his/her term and then answer to the people at the next election. This chopping and changing so that a few MP's can save their jobs is not how government is supposed to run

i don't even support tony abbott. i've always found the argument that because "the people" don't elect the pm therefore this stuff is totally okay kind of a wash. i think when people go to vote they very largely *do* have who will become prime minister in mind when they cast their vote for their local representatives (whom they probably don't even give a sh1t about, let's face it). i think at this point we should just adopt an american style system where people directly elect the prime minister. most australians at this point probably believe that we already do anyway and besides, the public hate this backroom party leader swapping. at the very least we'd have better looking prime ministers if we got rid of the party-chooses-the-pm system.

well  I'd rather Malcolm Turnbull than the nameless one as PM,  no question at all.
Whether he lasts or not is really up to the change he brings to the focus of our leaders.  If he fails ..he will not last long. But if he goes... so do the Libs.

I'd say personally he is more representative of the Oz people, in that he isn't the rabid 'whatever' .  He at leadt connects with real people. We will have to wait and see. But it can only be a plus for Australia.

Lets hope some more dead wood gets cut adrift ASAP.!.

Blot is livid:
Quote:
Yet everything about his challenge rang false, including the timing — just four days before a by-election in the Perth seat of Canning.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MALCOLM TURNBULL

And that timing says it all about Turnbull. He put his own interests above his party’s, sabotaging not just the Government with his leaks and digs, but now also sabotaging a by-election campaign by a great Liberal candidate, former SAS captain Andrew Hastie.

The latest two polls show Canning would have been won comfortably by the Liberals, despite weeks of destabilising leaks by supporters of Turnbull and his partner in assassination, Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop.

I suspect that is why Turnbull called the challenge, in case the Canning result was good and his case for immediate change wrecked.

So let’s analyse Turnbull’s laughable claims on Monday to be the man to take over the Government.

At his press conference, he claimed Abbott had “not been successful in providing the economic leadership our nation needs”.

Really? Under Abbott there was no mad Labor-style Budget blowout or pink batts disaster. His failings have not been in administering but in selling; not in doing, but in seeming.

True, the Senate, thanks to Labor and the Greens, has blocked the deeper Budget cuts we need, but would Turnbull have any more success in cutting handouts?

(no link, behind paywall)

No Budget blowout??? Debt doubled in just 2 years! If the Senate had passed the 2014 or 2015 Budget we would be in recession with over 10% unemployment—and the Budget even deeper in the red.

Worth reading, the idiot is frothing  Grin

Stick Abbott on a boat and send him to Manus Island.

Or better still, put a gun in his hands and send him to Iraq to fight ISIS.

It's sad for Austpol.

With Abbott gone the resident comrades' post volumes will reduce by 99.99%

The opposite in full swing at the moment.... you're the only self-proclaimed rightie who is still here...  Steampipe is a wop and has no real idea.... he thinks the people elect the  PM...
