Both houses are in Mackay. We aren't locals, only been here 21 years. Had visited many times before that and moved here to bring up our 3 sons. It was a nice place back then.

Built an investment property 3 1/2 years ago just before the free-fall began. Had also been hit hard financially in the 2008 floods. Mackay hasn't been kind to us in recent years.

Just wanting to pack up and move south, somewhere a bit more stable. Sad

Sorry, can't help ... never been there and know nothing about the place other than what I read in real estate journals ...

from what I've read, all the mining towns are in for a bit of a shake up, and you will either have to hang on and ride it out, in which case with time it'll come eventually good again, or if you can't ride it out, you'll have to take a hit to the pocket.
