OIL SPILL OFF GREAT BARRIER REEF
Posted On July 17th, 2015 - 9:18 am | by Oil and gas press
An oil spill up to 20 kilometres long has reportedly been spotted along Australia’s iconic Great Barrier Reef.

The slick was reportedly spotted by a fisherman near Cape Upstart, south of Townsville. Coast guard officials have said it could be up to one kilometre wide, according to the Brisbane Times.

Oil has been located in the water south of Townsville, Queensland Transport has confirmed.

The sooner the reef is crushed up and used for road base the better off we'll all be, the area would be put to better use as a dredge silt dump, you could charge a fee per barge to dump and make a fortune, maybe even take in waste from other countries too, corporate profits are what we need for future progress not pretty little striped fish and crabs.

Yes, we shouldn't stop there. Let's kill all animal and plant life, it's wasting good space that could be better used for mining and the likes.

For the usual suspects, you know who you are  Smiley

Fears of an oil slick in reef waters south of Townsville have been allayed on Saturday morning with a specialist team of experts unable to detect oil in the water.
An oil slick where oil had broken up into patches about a metre square was confirmed late on Friday evening and this morning's special fly-over ordered by Queensland government authorities.
However no trace of oil could be found this morning by the specialist aircraft using ultra violet light sensing equipment.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority aircraft with ultra-violet light sensors flew over the region close to Cape Upstart – between Ayr and Bowen - this morning.

"It was not able to detect any material traces of oil," the spokesman said after a phone-hook-up between scientists, researchers and government agencies on Saturday morning.

There has long been a problem with container ships from China cleaning out their bilge in Australia's eastern coastal waters. This is nothing new.
