I have read arguments that state this was the goal behind the second wave of feminism, as the second wave, in part, deals with equality of opportunity (the first wave was universal suffrage). So by creating equality of opportunity you get double the workers and, potentially, double tax payers.

I don't necessarily buy this argument though because those writing the literature at the time were post-structural "philosophers", who were obsessed with supposed oppressive gender constructions. They rarely commented on work and women's place in it.

Would have been very hard to break the stereotypes back then.
