Who really cares? It ain't gonna happen in my lifetime - I'm almost worm-shite already. So all this discussion is pointless.

The world's resources are finite, yet we, as a species who can't sustain ourselves, continue to breed. While allowing half our number to starve.

Earth, as planet, will survive after mankind has strip-mined its resources in order to feed an ever burgeoning population of Homo-Sapiens with an increasing appetite for the attainment  of individual satisfaction.

The fastest way to reverse climate change is to rid the world of the most serious polluters.

Cull the poor, non-productive and starving - easy!

The Greens have the answer. With a 40% reduction in world population, it's achievable - Paradise with electricity.   Grin

Just a thought.

The global population problem is a red Herring.

The USA makes up about 5% of the total global population and yet consumes about 1/3 of the planets resources and produces about 30% of the waste and pollution. This statistic generalises across the western nations meaning that about 15% of the worlds people require almost 90% of the worlds resources to sustain their life styles.

The problem is distribution of resources and the greedy life styles of the few.

So when people advocate a reduction in global population as a means to tackle problems of poverty and starvation, it depends on WHICH people are asked to reduced their environmental footprint.

You can eliminate say, 300 million Indians or Africans (excluding Sth Africans) and the effect on the earth will be negligible - this wouldnt even effect the statistics.

Eliminate 300 million US citizens, and 1/3 of worlds resources are freed up and there is a 30% reduction in pollution and waste overnight.

I dont see these problems as total global population related - not yet anyway - and I am not advocating the elimination of anybody.

These are very much political and social problems, and can be solved with sensible political will and the dismantling of the corpocracies that nurture this fascist tyrannical system of concentrated wealth and the rewarding of greed and socio-pathic behaviour.

We dont want to look in the mirror ladies and gentlemen - just point fingers.

The good old socialism masquerading as environmentalism. Take a bow Chump. You don't actually care about anything other than your socialist agenda, manifesting its ugly truth behind the convenient vehicle of the environment and sustainability..no wonder you explode with rage every time someone points to the big fat Agenda 21 elephant sitting in your closet.

Why do you do it? I mean, don't you have a life? or is effing up everyone elses so you can get rich what it is all about for you? You are worse than the worst of the capitalists you hate - at least they are honest about their activities - you are a fraud.

oh whats wrong Rider - his a raw nerve in your little corporatised delusional fascist entitlement world fo yours?

Did your blood pressure increase because your morality base was upset?

You believe in socialism when it props up your deranged corporate welfare system dont you Rider.

You love tax payers money being spent on the elite dont you Rider?

And when youre exposed as a deranged fascist corporatist, you get personal and lash out like a pathetic puppet scoundrel freak maggot.

Well done Rider - get back in your smelly hole fighting the little people in this world - blaming everything on the masses so you can feel good about your materialistic immoral fascist life style. Do you still hate certain people in society Rider?

And you don't see any absurdity in that statement?

So when you lack scientific facts or, better, when scientific facts are presented in a way you don't agree with blaming the rich or some secret society makes up the ignorance.

So ironic.

My Dear when you can present me with some real evidence that a rise in CO2 actually increases the temperature here on Earth i'll be all ears.

Until that time, unless you have something, its better to do away with all your bird droppings like above.

Well what do you suggest hairy arse, go back to the Neanderthal days.

Nobody wants to go back to the Paleolithic, and it's questions like that which illustrate that you're not really interesting in reading about the science. All you want is the status quo, regardless of the cost. When anybody questions your cut and pasted crapaganda, your come backs demonstrate that you don't understand and don't want to understand the issues. In short, you are a hypocrite. You subscribe to conspiracy theories about the  Club of Rome. Anything other than trying to understand the issues.

It's perfectly possible to have a good, technologically advanced lifestyle without using fossil fuels and crapping all over the environment. At home, I'm pretty close to that lifestyle, relying on solar for power and bio-diesel for my 4WD. On the sea, again I have solar panels and deep cycle batteries. Even my tenders use quite powerful trolling motors, with the batteries charged by the solar panels.

I have all the modern conveniences, but have very little environmental impact.

Dear JT

I'm glad you are doing something about the environment, if you can believe in that nonsense that CO2 somehow raises temperature here on Earth go ahead make sacrifices, Do you know how much energy Al Gore uses......???????????

I have looked at both sides of the science, actually when I first saw an inconvenient truth I was transformed into one of those foot soldiers I always talk about, I was there pumping my arm in the air saying yeah man we have to do something.

That lasted for a short time only, after I started talking about CO2 destroying our environment etc on forums, some guys where coming out and saying that for example CO2 lags temperature and No temperarure doesn't follow CO2.

Some talked about the hockey ssshhtickkk and how it left out the medieval warm period, then there was climate gate.

You know John if the science was settled there would be no need for this name calling and getting into a frenzy when a skeptic talked.

Sounds like the church when some people started saying the Earth was round not flat.

Or that your priest dear sir are molesting our children.

Show my one article that proves CO2 controls temperature here on Earth just one that's all I ask.......!!!!!!!!!

For well over 100 years it has been known that increased emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide will warm the planet. As the lowest layer of the atmosphere, called the troposphere (surface to ~7 miles), is warmed, the air becomes more humid, because warmer air holds more water vapor. This "tropospheric water vapor feedback" approximately doubles the initial warming caused by carbon dioxide.

The global warming we are currently observing is being "driven" by CO2 and other anthropogenic greenhouse gasses.  The warming increases water vapour which exacerbates the effect.

Seriously - this is high school science.  Are you really that ignorant?

Then how did the Earth manage an Ice Age Glaciation 450 Million years ago, with a Co2 level of over 2000 ppm?

...

Fig. 4.  Global (80S to 80N) Mean TLS Anomaly plotted as a function of time.  The thick black line is the observed time series from RSS V3.3 MSU/AMSU Temperatures.  The yellow band is the 5% to 95% range of output from CMIP-5 climate simulations.  The mean value of each time series average from 1979-1984 is set to zero so the changes over time can be more easily seen. Note that the response to the volcanic eruptions of El Chichón (1983) and Pinatubo (1991) is too large in some of the models, and that the models tend to show less overall cooling than the observations.

Yep I can see the increasing CO2 is doing exactly that. Do I need a \sarc.

Murry Selby - yet Another crack pot freak who was sacked from an Australian University and is fundamentally confused about how the Carbon Cycle works on this planet.

Selby has embarrassed himself on the international stage by making basic scientific errors and propgating pseudo science and spin garbage.

You can put Selby in the crack pot basket along with Dr Sircus and the Easterbrook clown.

You would need to be a real nice person to cite Selby's work in order to support your AGW denialist religion.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, the AGW denialist dream team Sircus, Selby and the Easterbrook clowns
