TONY Abbott’s embattled chief of staff Peta Credlin has made her return to parliament this morning following weeks of laying low amid calls for her to be sacked.

Ms Credlin, dubbed most recently the “Horsewoman of the Apocalypse”, returned to the advisers box in the House of Representatives as the chamber paid tribute to former prime minister Malcolm Fraser.
Ms Credlin appeared to scowl at photographers when they took her photo.
The fierce chief of staff to Mr Abbott has kept a low profile recently after her critics called for her to be sacked in the wake of the leadership turmoil last month.
Ms Credlin was sent on a holiday to unwind in Fiji, however it was not clear today if she was sporting a new tan.
She was dressed in her signature black suit and watched on as Mr Abbott remembered Mr Fraser, who died unexpectedly on Friday at the age of 84.
Last week a leaked text from the Liberal Party’s honorary Treasurer Phil Higginson described Ms Credlin as the “Horsewoman of the Apocalypse”.
“I’m refusing to sign the 2013/14 accounts ... it has brought ... the Horsewoman of the Apocalypse out of her den as you can image [sic]. Black robes flowing. Stay tuned for the hatchet job on me ... it’s hurting me just mainly watching the party suicide,” Mr Higginson wrote.
Mr Higginson a few weeks earlier expressed concern about the power Ms Credlin held over Mr Abbott and the fact she is married to Liberal Party federal director Brian Loughnane.
A number of high profile figures and commentators — including News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch — called for Ms Credlin to stand down, reigniting simmering animosity towards the chief of staff and her reported iron grip over the PM’s office.
