Hep A was last found in Semi Dried Tomatoes sourced from Turkey. It is very rare and there is no Laboratory in Australia with the equipment and resources to test for it here. Hence it will be sometimes before there is a conclusive match between suspected contaminated product and lab results.

Shocked Could it be that Australia can't actually test for Hep A???  Huh Huh

The test for Hep A is well known, they dont test for it because of its low risk.

Tested or not, does it make sense to burn diesel polluting the sea and the sky to bring food stuffs to Australia that are already produced here? And then not even label the country of origin?

A logistical impossibility to test everything. That's why drugs can always be imported yadda yadda yadda !!

Yes. we can test for it, but essentially whats the issue with not testing for it.

1. There is a vaccine for Hep A
2. Compared to the other hepatitis types, Hep A is relatively actue and nowhere near as severe.

Seems to be related to age more than anything else.

No, likelihood of liver problems increase as you age. Young children  typically have a milder shorter form of the disease
