What's your feed in tariff?

only .60c  Wink

No wonder - try buying a solar system now - you only get about a 12 cents feed in tariff.

you are looking at it the wrong way bobby..

you put a solar system on your roof to power your house in sunlight hours..

thus.. "saving" you purchasing electricity..

a lot of people tell me that they save 3 to 400 bucks at this time of year..

so if you save around $1000 a year - that's $5000 over 5 years... you can't go wrong unless we go into a massive solar eclipse that lasts for 100 years!!

I'm finding it difficult to not agree  Huh

6 cents from the consumer with rooftop solar vs 25 cents from greed incorporated !!

Greed incorporated is stealing energy from the consumers and the government was implicit in it when it forced everyone to replace their perfectly working electro mechanical meters with dumb meters and selling the lie that these meters could be used to lower their bills Sad

Only a brain dead liberal would think this was an equitable arrangement Sad

hear hear  sir Nail.

That was Libbos keeping the rich richer so the poor get the picture.

now there's your second mistake bobby...

you listen to that dickhead Nails..

the Labor government in Victoria "forced" all Victorians to have the smart meter and to pay for the privilege..

it was always about making money for the electricity retailers so that they didn't have to send a meter reader out...

solar systems are good..

solar systems will save you $1000 a year on average for an average person who uses power throughout the day.. families, pensioners etc

get on it..  Smiley

I'm not a lib, but I can understand that electricity companies need to make a profit. There are workers to pay, overheads, etc., etc.

The 66 cent feed-in wasn't just a good deal, it was an awesome deal, designed to get the punters in and the solar companies up and running.
It worked very well I think, and if you were one of the first on board, your solar system has probably already paid for itself a few times over.

So, no need to be greedy about it. After all, the prime objective was to do something for the environment wasn't it?

that's right...

you have to ask why the biggest whingers of climate change don't have a solar system on the roof themselves helping the environment...

Use your imagination mate. You are not helpless to build your own off-grid system. They insinuate the boundaries, and you tend to believe them.

I don't see it as a con, because let's face it, not many will do anything for the environment without the promise of profit.

That's not the point. You shouldn't have to spend more money just to get a fair price for the energy that you feed into the grid. If there is a charge for maintenance and rental of the grid then they should do what telstra does and itemize it on the bill separately. Surely it's not hard !!

and making us pay for their f.cking meters just to add insult to injury Sad

and what on earth do we need electricity retailers for ? We never needed them before this privitization scam.

Who's hare brained idea was this ?

Electricity retailers are like having retailers sell you air or rain water. They are just not needed at all.

Of course they are, but lets not kid ourselves that this is some exclusive club.  Anyone with half a brain would have signed up for the scheme in it's early stages.
