5.4 Earthquake Queensland 16 Feb 2015
Feb 16th, 2015 at 12:39pm

Quote:
The small town of Eidsvold in Queensland's North Burnett region has been hit by two earthquakes, with tremors felt as far away as Brisbane, Rockhampton and the Darling Downs

The epicentre was close to Eidsvold in the North Burnett

The area is home to some of the oldest rock on the planet

It is, however, seismically active.  There have been two recorded earthquakes in the region, one in the 1800s and one in the mid 1930s, approx.

There's also coal seam gas fracking

Outrage Bus ---- you stalk me through this forum and you need to ask yourself why

That's Number One

As part of your psychopathy, you seek to discredit my contributions to this forum

My computer has been hacked more than twice as result of participating in this forum

Now, get a grip on yourself and understand that in terms of life experience, you, Outrage Bus, don't even figure as large as a a speck of fly shite

Next:  http://www.abc.net.au/news/specials/coal-seam-gas-by-the-numbers/

Scroll down to see the map, those of you interested

Then you can conduct your own research

As for you, Outrage Bus ---- I lived in the Burnett region for some years and have always maintained an interest in the region, it's people, its problems, its geology

You, Outrage Bus, seem to have developed an unhealthy interest in me

But let's return to the topic in hand

because it does not affect only the Burnett region in Queensland

Or, maybe you, Outrage Bus, can tell the good people how to reconstitute rock after it's been systematically, deliberately, fractured by ---- fracking ?

McGarr and his team studied seven cases of quakes induced by fluid injection.

They included the Oklahoma fracking site where 8,900 cubic metres were injected; a scientific bore hole in Germany, where an injection of 200 cubic metres of salt water caused a magnitude 1.4 earthquake; a geothermal-energy project on the outskirts of Basel, Switzerland, that was terminated after an injection of 11,600 cubic metres of water triggered a series of quakes of magnitude up to 3.4; another in Cooper Basin, Australia, where a 20,000-cubic-metre injection resulted in a magnitude 3.7 quake; and a liquid-waste-disposal project in Colorado in the 1960s, where an injection of 631,000 cubic metres triggered earthquakes of magnitude up to 5, the largest yet seen as a result of fluid injection

Actually it was the previous labor and greens government that got the ball rolling on coal seam and if you have the ability to remember back a few years the Nationals (not LNP)were dead against it. There was no support from the greens or labor as labor was very pro CSG and the greens were very pro-labor.

I've never argued for fracking. I'm actually against fracking. But it causes earthqaukes paranoia doesnt really help the issue.

So truth is spelled 'paranoia' these days ?

Maybe you could spend a bit of time on some of the sites I've posted above

Filled with information and diagrams

about what fracking is about and what it does

and the earthquakes for which it's responsible

Go on.  Humour me, please

That way, you'll not only NOT support csg fracking

-- you might even become an activist of sorts

for which many (including countless future generations) will have reason to thank you
