Julie Bishop refuses 'not to challenge' leadership
Feb 3rd, 2015 at 8:17am

It was reported on WS Radio this morning that Julie Bishop was asked by Tony Abbott to give a guarantee to him that she would not challenge for the Liberal Leadership. Ms Bishop refused his request.

I think if you are reading straws in the wind, that can only mean one thing. How long will it be until Bishop makes a challenge?

I think if she does it is highly probable that she will succeed.

Her performance as Foreign Minister has been stellar. I think she played no small part in the successful freeing of Journalist Peter Greste. She carried out her duties in relation to the Malaysian Airlines disaster with grace and determination. All Abbott could come up with, was that he would shirtfront Putin.

Who do you think did the better job there?

Incidentally, I don't recall him, "shirt fronting Putin".

All the signs tell me that Abbott is dead in the water, he just makes too many stupid mistakes, he is a walking disaster area I am sorry to say. And I am sorry, I thought he would be a good P.M. I think he wants to be but it is beyond him.

Bring on Bishop.

Bishop will take the ship down with her. She’s not popular with the voters.

Their only hope is Turnbull.

The black widow is about to devour her mate.

Seems cons are more interested in their own political career, and bugger their party.

You’ve got it. This is exactly what Bishop would cop if she took the job. It would be JuLiar all over again. And the Libs?

After shouting "four legs good, two legs bad" for so long, they’d seamlessly shift the message to "two legs good, four legs bad".

Well - her handling of foreign Affairs is hardly 'stellar' - all she has to do is make the right noises on the right 'side of any issue, without any possibility of retaliation, and Bob's Yer Uncle....

On the reverse side, the Abbott government persisted with its grossly unequal FTAs and has made a total balls-up of virtually everything with Joko and the Five Foot Boyz..

I'd hardly call it stellar.... it's just a job where you fill in and make the right noises for the cameras.

Then we have the Grim Reaper of the Asbestos Queen hanging over her head like a cloud of asbestos dust...

My son - your understanding of politics in Australia has taken a mighty leap forward... it's all about their 'career', and not about their job.

Yes but the Libs along with the far right rusted ons are far too dumb to recognise that. I seriously burst into ROTFLMAO every time one of them suggest Morriscum as leader is a good option, oops I just made myself laugh again. Grin

Julie Isabel Bishop - not Stella.

Just shows what an ordinary lot the Liberals are, thinking about the Lawyer who stalled till they died.

Stellar? Wearing a camisole, more bed than going out clothing, to her first meeting with a Muslim Leader??? She will be as bad as Abbott—you can’t be carried by your Dept when you are PM tho you can as FM.

That's the truth of it.

I suppose anything looks stellar next to Abbott, Morrison, et al.
