Behind the Shed

Boys (and men) around the world in the late 1970s had two women on their minds.  The iconic Farrah Fawcett poster really brings back memories because my dad got it as a gag birthday gift.  Of course, mum never let him put it up.

Cheryl Tiegs of course

my dear old granddad did a lot of whiskey drinking behind his shed (which was actually a barn). and in it too. i can recall empty dust-covered pint-size whiskey bottles on rafters everywhere - drinking done long before i was on this earth. i can only imagine that is where he went to get away from my grandmother and all 5 of his daughters.

is that what a man's "shed" really is?  a man-cave?  a place to get away?

Instead of posting your schoolboy posters (one would haver thought you'd have moved on from that stage in your life) how about your get back to Relationships where Phemanderac is waiting patiently for you to provide your clear and explicit consent that he may post the PM exchange he had with you?  You know the one ~ from which you selected one PM (his) and posted it as an attack weapon over there in the sewerage?

(You also know that I will not allow this issue to just die off through lapse of time, like you hope it will.)

If anyone needs a backyard shed and has access to hardwood pallets, here's a cheap clever option that would be tough as nails when done properly.

http://www.oklahomahistory.net/palletshed.html

I'd be putting in proper concrete footings - but that's just me I suppose.

Still, a cheap shed.

What do ya'll think?

It would appear that someone has posted an idea about a shed on this thread.

And all we get are tools!

it looks pretty good, although I didn't think $500 was all that cheap considering the materials used.

Depends on your definition, I suppose. And that's an American site, so maybe raw materials differ a little in price.

That being said, it'd be a rugged little construction.

What's a shed the same size from Bunnings cost? And you still have to mount the flimsy li'l thing on a slab. And you can't hang anything from the walls.

Just sayin'.

prepacked is always more expensive. .. he built it himself using pallets, with no slab on the floor. just seems a little steep to me.

Ok. Good point.

Me, I'd want a slab anyway - so that doesn't really factor.

A quick Google puts a 3m x 3m zinc alum shed at $550 - which would also need a slab. A pallet runs 4' x 4' = almost 1.5 sq.m, plus 8' tall walls with pallets.

I reckon a pallet-style shed would be a whole lot stronger and a lot less likely to be opened with a can-opener. Plus you can hang heavy shite from the walls.

Still, horses for courses.

If you got your pallets for nothing, or next to nothing?

much stronger, and it would have some ready made shelves inside for storing all the small stuff. I've always liked my sheds to have the interior walls unsheeted for just that purpose

Another thought. There's no need to line the outside with ply, as that fellow has done.

How much second-hand corrugated iron is laying about in this country?

As an outside lining screwed to hardwood pallets, it would be a bugger to get into if you ever lost the keys.

Somewhat secure, what?

it would be secure because even if you could unscrew the iron, you'd still have to get through the slats on the pallets. would bring costs down a lot, especially if you found second hand ones.

There is a simple solution.  Have a cup of coffee before sex:
