My husband and son recently made a torch out of some batteries, a switch, some aluminium from a tray and a Pringles container. It was pretty awesome. They're going to try a camera next.

Does anybody have other good ideas for projects with kids?

perhaps, if you don't mind,  you can put down details on how exactly one converts a pringles container into a torch .. I'd love to try it with my kids but I've no idea how it works

He'll have to tell you how they did it, but here are a couple of pics. You can't really see the bulb against the aluminium.
