If the weather holds, we are having our special sausage and sauerkraut thing again. This time on the BBQ at the park while fishing. It's a great little spot where we can fish off a pontoon while still being able to watch the kids play in the park when they get bored. If there's enough of a breeze we'll get the kite up.

Yeah, they wouldn't have much taste if they came from the Swan River.

Indian Ocean Rock Lobsters are the way to go.

river prawns have plenty of taste though. anyway he can keep his crayfish unless I find someone deserving of the ones he gives me.

Lobster is my favourite meal.  Lobster mornay mmm mmm.

I know crayfish are related to lobsters but I thought they were much smaller than a lobby.  2kg?

As far as I'm aware, crayfish are freshwater decapods, and lobsters are from the ocean.

Could be wrong though.

Both taste fine to me  Smiley

Yes, I think we call them Yabbies over here in the east and they are found in creeks, dams, rivers.  Very similar anyway.   This pic is a Yabby.

I always thought crayfish was an American term   Grin

Crayfish, Crawfish, Crawdaddies etc.

Make a mornay or thermidore sauce next time and enjoy it.

Onion and garlic beef roast (from Woolies and it's really nice), crash hot potatoes and salad.

An American friend of mine complimented me on crash hot potatoes which are apparently an Australian creation.  Sadly, I had never heard of them but I am trying them tonight.

Boil some new potatoes until fork soft
Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil onto a baking tray
Place potatoes on tray and gently squash with a potato masher (use a rotating action) until they are like a hamburger patty .. don't get too carried away
Drizzle or brush with olive oil and sprinkle with finely chopped herbs (parsley, chives, rosemary etc)
Add some grated cheese if you wish
Add a generous grinding of salt and pepper
Place in a very hot oven for 15-25 minutes or until they are golden and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.

...
