We are eating late tonight.  2 out of 3 of us won't be home until 9pm and I am starving.

I usually just cover their plates in glad wrap and put them in the fridge.  I was running late last night though and thought we could all eat together.  Unfortunately my hunger peaked and waned and by the time I ate dinner I wasn't really hungry.

Thinking of lasagna on the weekend, should have enough eggs by then to make the pasta. Pork and veal mince and half a jalapeno to give it some bite. One of my jars of pasata to make the sauce with plety of fresh herbs out of my garden.

I remember it being 'tea' when I was young.  I rather like the word 'tea'.  I think it stems from the pommies.

My father's family is from the Hunter Valley  Grin

Dinner (midday meal) and Tea (evening meal) is "Country Aussie" I think. City people say lunch and dinner.

I have rellies in the Hunter, Black Orchid.  Wink

Actually my wife is a pom and she said they also called it tea when she was young.

In fact I also think we called lunch dinner when I was quite young and lived on a farm. I think then lunch was the main hot meal of the day.

Remember the Sunday Roast Lamb?  Then cold meat for many dinners later that week, plus sandwiches to take for school lunch. Those were the days, my friend.  Grin

I don't remember lunch being called dinner but we always had the Sunday midday roast.  I was never that keen on lamb but grew to like it more as I got older.

I wasn't that keen on any food when I was young.  Hated vegies and only liked salad.  Wasn't that keen on meat.  Very fussy   Grin

Yeah Nef, Lamb was cheap in those days.

As a matter of fact my wife and I were only discussing buying a side of lamb and freezing it and having lamb cutlets and nice chops.

I picked up a leg of lamb for around $6 a kilo on the weekend... over $5 off per kilo...

Nef... you can still cook your lamb and have lamb sandwiches... I still do a Roast Lamb for Sunday "Tea" sometimes and eat the rest for lunch/dinner through the week...

I use Bakers Delight Bread.. man, I could eat an entire Loaf of that stuff when fresh.. Smiley

I live in vic by the way Smiley

I also just got 14 out of 14 for aussie slang linguistics recently.. Smiley
