Fez, don't let facts intrude on the story that the Islamophobes are forcing on reality to fit their Islamophobia.

Hopefully everybody will come out of this situation unharmed.

Once it's over, we can blame/prosecute the perpetrators and leave the innocent alone but I fear the Islamophobes will insist on Collective Guilt for all Muslims.    Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

Exactly what I'm doing, not letting the facts be distorted.

I too wish that this to end with the perpetrators dealt with by the heavy hand of law and that those poor hostages will one day be able to go about their daily business in peace.

And I can see the whole future scenario layed out before us...more phobic hatred and vilification with a fat helping hand by our illustrious media.

By using their brains, not their f'd up blood lust...which puts them right at the level of the perpetrators.

Exactly.

Some people on here have one concern, and one concern only: the religion of the terrorists (and summarily executing them once caught). All that does is lower us to their level.

My primary concern is the hotages: I want them out of there as soon as possible, no matter who they are or what religion they are.

I then want the terrorists captured and put before a court as soon as possible, no matter who they are or what religion they are.

If people want to discuss faith, flags, and other such nonsense, well ... good luck to them.

In reality I'd like to see life with no parole on Palm Island...let them learn what it is to live in real fear day in day out.

They will survive but at least they'll have the same experience as they put their hostages through.

From the Live ABC news feed on this seige:
Quote:
Lebanase Muslim Association president Samier Dandan says Australian Muslim leaders are meeting online now to see if the community can help.

Mr Dandan says it is not known who is behind the siege and whether there are any links to the Australian Muslim community.

"But regardless we have a hostage situation. Whether he is someone who belongs to the Australian Muslim community or not, we are still waiting for information to be provided by police and based on that if there's something the Muslim community can do or assist, we are there."

Obviously the majority of Muslims do not support these perpetrators.   They are as alarmed and pissed off as all Australians are.   Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry
