boys make up almost half of the children abused and men are the abusers in around 70% of cases.  that gives a man/boy sexual abuse category that is very large and far more than the 1-2% of the population that is gay.  While it is very improper nowadays to suggest such a thin, it also implies that is a higher rate of sexual abuse coming out of the gay community than the straight.  I don't see it as particularly relevant or helpful but it would appear to be largely tru just the same.

Child sexual abuse being predominately a phenomenon of the gay community is something I'm not convinced of. I would need to see the stats.

Which are statistically more sexually interfered with: boys or girls? I don't know, but my guess is that most women have a story of at least one creep attempting to grope them. Not all men can say that.

And then we have the kiddy-fiddlers in the person of the notoriously suspect 'boyfriends' or de facto husbands of divorced young mothers.

Young girls getting sexually abused by the infamous 'new boyfriend' of their divorced mothers ~ often with the connivance of these feral mothers.

And then the stereotype of the abusing uncles ~ most of them married with their own families.

It's time the myth of the single adult male being a paedophile predator was laid to rest.

Now we get to the crux of the issue... I'd wager herbie's been accused of being a ped a few times around here? (I hasten to add that I don't think he is one).

its not a myth. it is a stereotype and not completely wrong.  the reality is that it is ANYONE, married or mot married, male or female, any culture, any age.

the stats seem to suggest it is a bit higher in the gay community although that is far from proven. but you can bet no such study would ever be conducted unless the results came out in their favour.

Here we go again with these destructive pests posting with nothing to say but juvenile classroom antics again.

And in another thread ...

Ain't THAT the bloody truth!

I'd wager that more than half the single adult male population today would prefer to stay that way. It's cheaper.

This 'friends with benefits' BS is exactly that - BS. It's merely a label designed to assuage the consciences of the 'cougar' set and those unable to control themselves among the civilised.

I view the outrages emerging from societies such as the priesthood as failures of everybody to learn the lessons of the past and to ignore mountains of research into confining large numbers of members of the same sex.

JHC! What do you expect?

The perverts, however, those who run in disguise ans aliases while acting like predators - they are a different question.

If that were the case, I could say "Soren, Data and Longy are gay lovers (not that there's anything wrong with that) who often invite underage boys into their basement on Sunday nights" and never be challenged on it, just by saying "It’s like gravity or time - you just know it.".

Not that I would say such a thing, of course.

Let me know if you come up with something, though.  I'll be here.

LOL,  yeah you meant nothing...

You are deeply deluded if you think your "who me, farted?" act is in any way convincing to any one.

If you follow the links you will see he has deleted his disgusting insinuation.

Well caught!

And I agree with you, it's quite a disgusting insinuation. And its deletion would apparently indicate that the poster has belatedly realised that they may have overstepped the very lenient mark here.

As an aside, could such a comment be described as 'trolling'?

Let's ask Herb, the oft described 'King of the Trolls'.

What say you, Herb?

Have you ever descended to such levels?

And if you had, would you have expected, or accepted, an admonishment from myself or others and then apologised?

Perhaps, therein, lies a deeper question.

Just sayin'.

Herbert, are you actually saying you're offended? Because I said I don't think you're a pedophile? In that case, I stand admonished and apologise -- in the interests of harmony.

Let the record show I've tried to do my bit. But, as the song goes, "Herbie is our king".

Geez, don't be so sensitive!

I wasn't having a shot at you.

You've left out all those lines in between and made it personal.

Sheesh! Some people!

It's not ALWAYS about YOU.

Lionel, I know you weren't having a shot at me. I quoted you for the part about herbert not being man enough to apologise, so he couldn't whine about not getting an apology. Who'd have guessed he'd be offended at being called not a pedophile?

So which bit is complete nonsense?

The assumption that bachelors hanker for paedophile flesh more than do married men with children.

It's more than being a bachelor... Being a priest requires making a conscious decision whereas being a bachelor doesn't necessarily.

Atleast pell admitted there could be a connection but in my view he wasn't speaking about being a bachelor at all... He was speaking about being a priest where a much more deliberate decision about lifestyle is being made!

I read that at the seminary in the Vatican where recruits are trained for the priesthood, it was no secret that some of the applicants were sexual fruitcakes who laughed and carried on with each other quite openly.

The fatal flaw in your logic Longy is that you are assuming that man/boy sexual abuse is homosexual, but this is not the case. I will actually provide a link for this fact (which is a rarity on this thread).

Herbie, the logical fallacy in your own argument is the fact that most men are married or in relationships. Therefore it stands to reason that they would be over represented in the statistics. But being married does not make someone more likely to become a pedophile which is what you seem to be implying
