Herb, there's not a thing on ozpolitics that would really bother me. If everyone just said what they had to say (such as, their worst) and moved on, no insult would be too bad.Just don't stalk someone you don't like/disagree with by responding to every post they make. There's no mystery that I don't like/agree with John Smith, but we leave each other alone. That's probably the best way; and don't get bogged down by old war wounds.

The trouble is guys we only notice the sneering from the ones on the other side of the political fence to us!

And after we notice the same ones bagging our side we react!

Just human nature!

We all wear rose coloured glasses on posts favouring our side of politics  but notice every snear  from the other side!

No solution I suspect!

I've never had a problem with mods. The only issue I've had on ozpolitics is with leftard barnacles whom like to dominate every topic and swarm on anyone they disagree with.

Well said. There's a swarm of winged termites on this board who sniff the air and then descend as a group upon anyone who's even slightly Right of Fiddle Castro.

I've never had any problems with mods either, despite coming under torrential downpours of abuse and insult from the Lefties here as though I need intensive moderating to keep from being sin-binned.

Not being a Political "supporter" of either a Right or Left wing, my assessment of this forum would be that both the Left & Right have a "good sized" numbers!

That said, everything has limits & just because someone doesn't agree with what you say, be it Politics or other, does not give anyone the right to overstep the line!

Apparently he's married to someone here who can protect him from the powers of moderation. Aussie should be appointed a global moderator. Some might think he's harsh - but he's at least fair.

You are way out of line by suggesting that I am unfair, Mantra. I am sick of your snide insinuations. You're also out of line in suggesting that just because LGO is my husband, I'd let that post slide.

How about you show me where I've been inconsistent or unfair?

I'm not the one who made the abusive comment.

What does surprise me is that LGO would make such an unacceptable comment and put you in the position you're now in by having to defend him. He's not showing any respect for the rules of this board.

If you want your private life to be kept out of bounds, then don't discuss it on such a huge forum. Of course you're bound to get references to it from time to time.

Your comments are snide. You don't offer outright abuse, just dirty insinuations.

I didn't defend him. You are being dishonest.

References to my private life don't bother me at all, Mantra. It's the suggestion that I am being unfair in moderating which pisses me off because I am not. I asked you to back up your accusation with an example and you haven't. I'm asking you to do so again.

Um in your own quote, you are quite clearly the one who talked about a poster protected by their moderator spouse, might be a good time for you to quietly back out of the conversation (given apologising in this place is often times in the way too hard basket).

Here is the thing, as articulated in the rules...

Copy the offending post (use the quote button, it's pretty easy), put that in a pm then include a link to the thread from the offending post.... Then send that on to one or more moderators (clearly if you send it to all the mods, you cannot be accused of not being transparent). If you send it to a few mods you immediately address your own articulate fears of mod bias...

Make no mistake, I am not a big fan of the "system" either, but it is what it is. One can uselessly whinge here about it, or, whilst whinging here, at least attempt to be effective and follow the articulated procedures...

I think that you did cross a line, that means nothing of course, I am just another punter/poster in the melting pot though. I don't think that your follow up post was a brilliant defence either, in fact, if nothing else it compounded the initial line cross.

I guess it is lucky our mods have some patience at the very least.

You can ask all you like. All you're doing is showing members that you are an angry person. I'm not getting into an argument with you about your moderating. This isn't the place. You didn't like my comment - so what? I don't like quite a few of your comments, but I let them go and don't demand that you explain yourself repeatedly.

In your eyes is making a "snide" comment against the rules?

That's your opinion Phemanderac. I wasn't rude to Annie - she just didn't like my comments. This isn't the first time I've seen some unacceptable comments from LGO.

If the mods lost their temper at every irritating comment made by a member - then there would be no members left.

Pretty sure "against the rules" wasn't mentioned, quite clearly, Annie advised you that your snide comments pissed her off....

I think that is pretty clear to be honest. Then again, once we find that crack in someone's armour it is just far too tempting to keep trying to exploit it.

I am a member and, to be perfectly frank, the only thing it has shown me so far is that you can't (or possibly won't to be fair) back up your allegation.

The angry person bit was already explained, you made an allegation about unfair moderation without substantiating it - Annie stated quite clearly that pissed her off... I think that's a hint she may have been a bit miffed...

What a bummer Annie is the only mod on the forum..... Oh wait...

Indeed, it is most certainly my opinion.

that is a matter of perspective, however, I understand that you perhaps did not intend to be rude...

So, what did you do with the other comments?

Bare in mind, I understand the whole reporting thing can be a bit of a hassle, but it is the system, so, what did you do about LGO's previous comments?

Ah I see, earlier I was just "expressing my opinion" and now ^^^

Clearly my mistake, I overlooked the rule that you have to have the final word!

It was a baseless accusation, not a mere comment.  It's also not the first time you've attacked me in this manner. If you're going to throw accusations about, expect to be able to back them up or look silly (at best) if you can't.

Anyway, I've proven my point so I won't be engaging further.

Maybe you could back your accusations up also?

There have been a few times I've reported a member whose behaviour is completely out of control. The member remains to abuse day after day.
