These people have a problem with self control and no doubt after numerous bannings believe that a name change will bring a fresh start and no-one will be the wiser. Moderators have to care enough to do something about it and that's a big ask considering they have time constraints.

Some moderators have made the time to remove the serial pests, but we shouldn't take it for granted that they all will.

I appreciate it isnt exactly a paid position but I find it unacceptable when a mod joins in and shows their true colours...

.when others see a mod having a go at you....they must feel justified in what they do...

at least thats the way I see it..

There have always been spats between moderators and members. They aren't perfect and neither are we. A moderator years ago joined in on an attack on me. We both said our piece fairly quickly and moved on, but we kept our distance from each other afterwards. There is nothing we can do about who they like and don't like. Just accept it and post in the sub-forums where you feel comfortable. Holding onto irritation or animosity makes it less enjoyable to post here - for me anyway.

Mantra, you may find this hard to believe,  but I read ozpolitics fairly regularly for two years before I decided to participate. I didn't feel I needed to. Lately, the attacks on all things Australian have prompted me to defend the country I love, even against an elitist little group of lonely pseudo intellectuals that feel they have a monopoly on free speech.

That's good to hear. I wasn't sure whether you were a new member or otherwise, but you've alleviated some doubt. Personally I haven't noticed any lonely pseudo intellectuals here - just ordinary people expressing their opinions.

What about the folks on here that are looking to ban someone on here every 30 seconds for every little thing even if it's not directed at them. Couldn't they just start a private correspondence with the people they liked?

gosh mantra I trust you are not referring to reply No 29 on this very thread....as being from a ordinary person just expressing their opinion.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes..

perhaps bubba hasnt read it yet...or he could even be faintly amused by it I wouldnt know...but having read the BAD and then the wannabee intellectuals who  like to think they know more about a person than they know themselves..[ Grin]

I am inclined to agree with him.. the opinionated intellectuals on here and the just plain rude and ignorant...do not come under my heading.of ordinary people..

well YESSSSSSSSSSSS if they were intellegent enough you would kind of expect that..

the sad fact is they dont come on here to be friendly not the ones I am referring too anyway...they are pretty low people who come on these type of forums to stir and if they can make others hate the said people they have it in for all the better...

I hope you dont run across them I really do.. wouldnt wish them on my worst enemy...

this isnt about banning actually well for me it isnt its about stopping what goes on...

I mean if a mods husband goes about as low as anyone can go.. then what hope is there for stopping it???? Cheesy..

we move on bubba.perhaps they will take you good advice and only deal with people they like..

I've changed mine a couple of times but each has been fairly obviously cat-related, and I've made no secret of the fact
that it's me.

The changes haven't ever been made to avoid a ban or to launch an 'anonymous' attack on anyone, nor have I posted
under 'Kat' and one of the alternatives at the same time.

I do have to raise the odd eyebrow whenever a 'new' member turns up and within a few posts 'knows' exactly who's
who, how they're aligned politically and socially, and EXACTLY which 'buttons' to push to get a reaction. They then
select their 'victim/s' and will go from thread to thread, post to post, harassing, annoying, heckling and abusing.

Whether they get banned or just get bored, I don't know. But within hours or days they're gone, only to be replaced
by one or more clones following exactly the same 'battle-plan'.

I'd hazard a guess that no more than a third of the 'new' members who register actually are new. The rest are either
socks or legit re-activations or changes to existing memberships a la Bobby and Cods.

I think it's a bit silly, and a little sad, if people are going on here "anonymously" just to troll or abuse somebody.

Doing it on your original ID is cowardly enough -- we don't really know each other anyway. (unless we choose to stay in contact and become friends with somebody outside of the forum) But then to go and make a fake ID to troll? That's just beyond cowardly.

Going back to the Political Animal election.. somebody going to major lengths to elect Aussie. I couldn't help but laugh.

I think it's sad that there are a half a dozen or so 'regulars' on ozpolitics all day every day that think that a public forum should be their own little glee club.

What do you think our parliament is if not a private little glee club where politicians make decisions that bear no resemblance to majority public opinion?

The surprising thing is that if Pauline Hanson herself had been elected PM she couldn't have done a worse job than Julia Gillard.

Her reign as PM was a constant embarrassment to the Labor Party, and was one long series of Comedy of Errors.

They really should think of putting on Gillard's time in government as a musical stage show reminiscent of The Rocky Horror Show.
