Cods, what gave me pause to think about Aussie's P.O.V., was the publication that the Kurds have been involved in terrorist acts across the board against legitimate Governments historically. A fact I was not across.
I haven't changed my stance on Genocide but if we are going to get real over there, then the War doesn't stop at the Syrian border.
Either go after ISIL full on or we might as well pack up and come home.
Bit rich with ISIS just about to take Kobane and our fighters won't cross the Syrian border. The Syrian Government is a shambles, our fighters should cross the border and get stuck in. I don't see the U.S. letting sensibilities stop them from flying combat missions into Syria.
If we want to defeat ISIL we fight them where they are.
That is why I am calling this a Phoney War, at least as far as we are concerned.
look at our own history then for that matter.. two world wars.. both involved Brits and Germany...yet its been a long time since I heard of a Brit killing a German or vice versa..
same with the Japs and Yanks..all mates now..
we all hav ea history of killing.. that doesnt mean we dont change or have a new way of dealing with whatever it is that causes wars of all kinds...
ISIL is the aggressor here not the Kurds no matter what their past is... thats gone and done..its now we have to worry about.. ISIL is not a country I dont even know what they want to be honest.. it is control of religion??.. is it power by fear?? do they really expect the rest of the world to do business with them.. when/ if they finally get what they after????? not very likely so whats in it for those in control of ISIL?...
to me its a form of madness...[madcow maybe] it has no meaning.. look at Hitlers mind blowing control of Europe..6 years of hell...what good did it do him?...he went mad.. hundreds of thousands died... and for WHAT..it all went back to how it was just scarred and weary..I think the West had learnt something from all of that.....but ideology religious madness seems to know no boundaries....as one nutter leaves another takes his place...
this is why I am thinking bombs wont halt them.. famine and pestilence could though...
