.....aka humanitarian aid....... Tony said so last night on the news.

I still wonder how the dropping of bombs can be considered as humanitarian aid.

killing islamics benefits mankind

Turkey won't get involved even though ISIL is now just a few hundred metres short of its borders.

Somehow Turkey thinks that putting its head in the ground will eliminate them as a target.

It won't, everything is a target as far as ISIL is concerned.

Turkey is insisting that it wants the USA to assist its forces, on the ground.

Because Turkey insists that it [Turkey] should not be 'expected' to fight ISIS, 'on its own'.

BUT;

#1;
If infidels send troops into a moslem nation [which is under attack] - THE INFIDELS ARE CONDEMNED BY MOSLEMS, AS INFIDEL INVADERS WHO ARE OPPRESSING MOSLEMS, AND WHO ARE INTERFERING IN A MOSLEM COUNTRY'S AFFAIRS.

#2;
If infidels DO NOT send troops into a moslem nation [which is under attack] - THE INFIDELS ARE CONDEMNED BY MOSLEMS, AS INFIDELS WHO ARE 'STANDING BY' AND ALLOWING OPPRESSORS TO MURDER MOSLEMS !!!!!

Mohammedans themselves are mendacious, deceitful hypocrites [......and they are themselves, the 'infidels' that they condemn!!!!!]

The Kurds in Kobani must wonder what is going on as they fight to avoid a Genocide.

Kobani is proof that ISIL cannot be defeated by Air Forces alone.

The U.S. dithers and won't commit boots on the ground. Turkey won't get involved even though ISIL is now just a few hundred metres short of its borders. Somehow Turkey thinks that putting its head in the ground will eliminate them as a target. It won't, everything is a target as far as ISIL is concerned.

A Genocide is just breathes away. Once the brave Kurds get overpowered, this will be a full scale slaughter.

Incidentally, anyone heard from the United Nations lately on what they intend to do?

As usual this usual bunch of no hopers will turn their backs and pretend it's not happening.

Looks like the Coalition are going to do the same thing other than drop a few bombs.

Have you considered that the reluctance of Islamic countries to engage in the fight is setting up the potential to redraw the national boundaries of the Middle East in favour (mainly) of Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iran?

Imagine a greater Saudi Arabia, having laid claim to Sunni Iraq, Iran to Shi'ite Iraq, Palestine to Israel, with Jordan as a Palestinian homeland.

Even the Kurds might get a seat at the table this time (if they're lucky).

Ahahahaaaaa!  So, now we learn that Turkey and the PKK (the ballsy part of the Kurdish forces fighting against ISIL in Syria) are long term enemies.  (Link = Lateline)

The PKK is also proscribed by Abbott's laws as a terrorist organisation.

We should get out and let these Arabs sort out their domestic disputes.  We have no place there.

Aussie, I take on board the historical significance involving so many of the factions across the Middle East.

I understand your point of view and agree with much of it. However the world cannot stand by whilst Genocide is carried out.

Innocent people being wholesale slaughtered cannot be condoned.

I've had a gutful of watching the useless U.N. presiding over genocides.

But.............why get all antsy about this one now?  It's been happening there for centuries.  It is their dung hill, and it is their dung hill to genocide about as is usual in Arabia.  Not once has the West had an enduring impact.  It could easily be argued that whenever we do stick our beak in (Saddam) we remove the only stabalising influence the place had.

Their land ~ they fight for it.  'Darwin' wins.  Nothing to do with us.  Get the ferk out Abbott!

I can't see that 6 fighter jets are going to make much difference Aussie. I think I'd rather see that $500 million spent on giving the ADF a decent wage rise.

very self centred how can we talk about the poor innocent Palestinians being killed by Jewish bombs.. and not innocent muslims being beheaded and terrorised..by their very own?...

havent you noticed the war seems to have gone off the radar a little bit.. who knows maybe 6 jets are making a difference..

I cannot understand what is the point of having fighter planes /battle ships/ defence forces if we never use them for what their main purpose is...

and I know for one thing... I would rather a war take place overseas than ever come to our own front door.

I think we should thank god we are in such a place as to be able to help those who cannot help themselves..

Cods, what gave me pause to think about Aussie's P.O.V., was the publication that the Kurds have been involved in terrorist acts across the board against legitimate Governments historically. A fact I was not across.

I haven't changed my stance on Genocide but if we are going to get real over there, then the War doesn't stop at the Syrian border.

Either go after ISIL full on or we might as well pack up and come home.

Bit rich with ISIS just about to take Kobane and our fighters won't cross the Syrian border. The Syrian Government is a shambles, our fighters should cross the border and get stuck in. I don't see the U.S. letting sensibilities stop them from flying combat missions into Syria.

If we want to defeat ISIL we fight them where they are.

That is why I am calling this a Phoney War, at least as far as we are concerned.
