Plums a la Robespierre

First capture & secure your plums, BLOOD plums.

Guillotine them down the middle, lie cut side up on a tray and sprinkle moderately with sugar.

Next, place the traitorous plums in the freezer for a day or so, until you are ready to resume their punishment, at which time you can allow them to thaw for a while.

Bring enough water to cover them to the boil, add about one quarter cup of sugar/ cup of water.

Now, PLUNGE the BLOOD PLUMS into the water, reduce to a simmer and add a good dash of Blackberry Nip. Remove after about 4-5 minutes.

Allow to cool and place in a container in the fridge.

Serve with a good portion of Aldi's Silver Scoop Creamy Vanilla ice cream.

Long Live la Revolution!

Know the enemies of a civil society by their public behaviour, by their fraudulent claim to be liberal-progressive, by their propensity to lie and, above all, by their attachment to authoritarianism.

I can tell you it's to die for.

Sounds yummy but I don't have plums that are bent on revolution or civil disorder. Would pallid plums of submissive persuasion perhaps suffice? If so, I would be happy to throttle them.

That sounds rather nice.  I wish I had a plum tree, as I rarely buy them.

Talk to your plant nursery guys—many plums need a companion tree for polination. Plant rosemary, lavender etc—blue-purple plants that flower in spring and attract bees.

I was about to dig up my plum tree, very few plums, then planted an echium that flowers early in spring—suddenly kilo after kilo of plums! Plum jam, plums in brandy, plum mead, plum wine, plums in the freezer. Massive harvest!

My chicken run is between my trees—should get a good harvest, eh?

well done I know any plum tree I have seen has always been bountiful...I think they are worth having.. watch that plum wine though..does the planting of the rosemary go for all fruit trees???

as it too is a nice plant to have.. mine is in a pot at the moment.

You want a nice patch of purple flowers in spring to attract the bees. Talk to your nursery like I said.

Last night I made this plum tart from the latest Coles magazine.  I love these magazines.  The pastry was superb but the plums were a little tasteless.  Maybe next time I will use a mixture of peaches, plums, nectarines.
