I noticed that Longweekend58 had already joined the
Australian Politics Forum a while back.

I sent him a nice message.
I missed him some how.

You didn't consider that a blessing? A sign from your god?

I love telling him about Nail's luxury car.   Grin

Come on, you know how to keep a wianker in suspense. What does nails drive?

Nail won't allow me to say.

Anyway it's better than Longys V8 clunker.

Now you have my interest, I have a V8 clunker. 94 SS Commodore with some goodies. Don't get me wrong, we have a smaller car we use almost always, I just love driving it, maybe at most 2k@annum. I love driving eights, but I know I shouldn't so it's my toy. There's nothing like an 8 except maybe a 12. In my younger days as a motor mech I loved taking the Jag/Daimler 12's for "test drives".

I am glad Ozpolitic is back up & running.

I joined 2 other politics forums in case Ozpolitic was shut down
so we could still all communicate.

I joined polanimal here:
http://www.polenimal.com.au/viewforum.php?f=5

& Australian Politics Forum here:
http://aussiepolitics.proboards.com/

I managed to get the same user name before anyone else took it.

It might be a good idea for others too as a reserve in case this site
ever gets shut down or goes offline.

Let's call it a backup.

cheers
Bobby

So! You're the prick that took my new nick on those sites!  Grin

That was probably Aussie. Grin

This makes me wonder whether the whole Ozpolitic site should be backed
up so it could be recreated again in full if it was ever lost or shut down.

OK thanks.

That's good - I have bookmarked the facebook page.

I just had memories of the Yahoo days when the whole of yahoo politics was shut down.

We all came here after that - all the posts were lost forever.

My apologies for the extended downtime. It was about 24 hours. Still no idea what happened. Hostgator have not responded to me yet. I had to restart the server, which is something I have never had to do before myself.

not a problem freediver, thanks for the efforts you put in

Yes, I had actually forgotten about our FB page, but did go there yesterday to see if there was any clue as to what had happened.

Saw your post, and passed the message on to a few others.

Oh, to be able to access some of those posts these days.

Someone, some time back, told me that they had to be archived somewhere, but I've never had any real success in unearthing them.

Very small snippets, but nothing of real note.

Same here, I did save some of the 'better' posts from 2008 to 2010, but, like you, only snippets.

Good for a laugh, some of it... Smiley

Funny thing though, while trawling Google to find out what happened, I came across some interesting facts about my fellow posters.

Including one poster, with his own business(?) no less, who almost doubles the input of the next most prolific poster.....

Hmmmm.....

Shocked

There were some rippers alright and they are still putting up the same crap that they got their a$$es kicked for back then.

No real imagination among some RWs....

There were good ones about the Catholic Inquisition but
they were usually deleted in less than 12 hours.

Luckily Ozpolitic allowed the same sort of posts here.

Any posts on Building 7 were deleted in less than 30 minutes.   Grin

some do have a problem with people who get a kick out of posting......where would the place be without them???... as for yahoo... they would delete the posts on the thread for all to see..and you knew who were banned...one person who will remain nameless but was a die hard lefty even threatened to kill another poster and that poster in turn threatened him with the police.. it kind of went downhill from there on...of course since those days the govt changed and Labor were in for 6 years and they copped it all back..... its like defending in footy... hard bloody work..
