There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
Bit of Old Testament there, Y.
I was led to believe that you Christians no longer believed in the messages in the Old Testament.Appears that is wrong, you keep on quoting it.
Brian_Ross,
Yeah.
A lot of Christians [WHO DO NOT READ THEIR OWN BIBLE] believe that.
Funny, I didn't see you attacking those Christians (Matty/Soren/Moses) who made those claims, Y. Why not? Surely they aren't following the true Christian path that you proclaim?
So, you follow the verses in the Old Testament
that tell you to kill unbelievers, Y?
Brian_Ross,
You are so, so wrong. [
in error]
FIRSTLY;Yes, the Old Testament law [Torah] does command the Hebrews to kill
Hebrews [
who were covenant breakers] who encourage Hebrews to go and to worship another god.
AND, yes, the Old Testament law [Torah] does command the Hebrews to kill
criminals and
murderers and
oppressors [both Hebrews and non-Hebrews].
And, those nations which the God of Israel commanded to be destroyed [in the Old Testament], were to be destroyed because of the many murders [and other crimes], which the people of those nations had committed.
e.g.
Deuteronomy 20:17
But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:
18
That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.
But the Old Testament itself, records
that those peoples,
the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; were NOT [commanded by God to be] destroyed
because they were not Hebrews.
Nor because they were 'unbelievers'.
PROOF ?Read the Bible - for that proof!!!
The proof that the Hebrews ...WERE
NOT COMMANDED,
NOR GIVEN ANY SANCTION [by their God], TO KILL 'UNBELIEVERS', is in the Old Testament law [Torah].....
Exodus 12:49
One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
Exodus 22:21
Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him...Exodus 23:9
Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger...Leviticus 19:33
And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself...Leviticus 25:47-49
[these verses clearly speak of [and reveal that it was entirely 'lawful'] for Hebrews [themselves] to become bond servants [slaves], to prosperous strangers living among the Hebrews.]
Deuteronomy 1:16
And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
Deuteronomy 10:17-19
For the LORD your God... loveth the stranger, ...Love ye therefore the stranger:
for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 24:17
Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge:
18 But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
Deuteronomy 27:19
Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger...
