Govt brings back temporary protection visas
Sep 25th, 2014 at 10:33am

The federal government is reintroducing temporary protection visas to clear a backlog of 30,000 asylum seeker cases. Immigration Minister Scott Morrison introduced legislation to parliament on Thursday that will create more rapid processing and streamlined review arrangements. The measures are expected to have the support of the Palmer United Party in the Senate, ensuring their passage through parliament.

Sanity prevails.

Neither of you fanbois have any idea of the effect on the AS of temporary protection visas!

While on a TPV an AS never knows when their TPV can be cancelled and they deported. There can be no family reunions. This comes after years in detention on Manus Is or Nauru. Years and years of separation from family!

I cannot think of anything more likely to turn people mad!

We invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, yet people displaced because of our actions cannot flee here?

SHY is rabbiting on about the crap new measures by holy–roller Morrison. She has not acknowledged that the Greens helped bring all this about by joining the other conservative party, the Libs, in blocking legislation that would have allowed the Malaysian Regional Processing Centre to go ahead. Now the Greens will pose as the savior of refugees {vomit}

In 1943 my father, forced to labor in Spandau near Berlin, could not stand being separated from my mother and left his work camp—no money, train ticket or papers—to return to Holland! This vicious rubbish is now being imposed on thousands of ASs by us!

Then if someone on the ragged edge of sanity lashes out the fanbois will crap on about Muslim! Boo!

None of these fanbois have any glimmering of understanding of what TPVs after years of detention has on people and they make good and sure they never do get a glimmering.

Why not settle the ASs in country areas that are screaming out for labor or worried about depopulation as the youth drift off to the cities? Nah, more votes in demonising some people.

Years of detention is their choose. They can go home anytime they want.

They can go home any time they want.

Will this still hold true after Iraq and Syria get bombed a bit further back to the stone age? Will this still hold true after the Taliban take over all of Afghanistan?

But let me turn your statement on its head.

Despite the despicable, uncivilised treatment Australia has inflicted on ASs including indefinite detention in hell holes like Manus Is with the 4GS goons inflicting yet more degradation on them hardly any ASs choose to go home.

Contrarywise, some of the ASs who returned or were forcibly returned to their home country faced imprisonment and execution shortly after their return.

Your choice does not exist in reality.

Where's your evidence they get imprisoned when they get home? That's shown to be absolute rubbish.

Then why was I reading an Afghan returnee got executed on return to Afghanistan?

In any case—it is really remarkable how few ASs chose to return home despite being housed worse than animals.

Will TPV give the right to work?  Access to Medicare?  Access to Centrelink benefits?  The old system under Howard didn't and so basically Asylum Seekers were thrown onto charity.  Charities were not equipped to cope with their needs nor had the funds to do so.

Then you have the uncertainity of TPVs.  Asylum Seekers cannot plan anything long term, cannot access credit and can't plan new lives.

All TPVs do is allow the Government to ship refugees back to their nations when the Government decides it is suitable to do so.  This runs counter to the intent of the UN Convention on Refugees.

Those that support  TPVs either don't understand their full ramifications or don't care and are callous in the extreme.  In otherwords, typical ilLiberal supporters who want to play to the lowest common denominators in our society the racists, bigots and Xenophobes.    Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Grin Grin Grin

I never supported Manus Is or anywhere else as permanent place of detention.
