Yes - they spend $1 billion on their space program & the Mars mission was only a small part of it.
They are so far ahead of us.

Yes, they are far ahead of us, since they built the space launch facility in 1969, that of course is the bit you and nails seem to forget. For Australia to launch our own space or orbital flights, we'd need to build a launch centre which would cost BILLIONS of dollars, and take years to do.

If a fraction of the $trillions spent on our property ponzi scheme was spent on a space center
we too could have a high tech country.

By WHO?? The Government??? Given the bitching about budget cuts, what sort of reaction would that produce, do you think??

Having a launch centre doesn't make us a 'high tech' country. The fact that lots of different countries get Australia to design and build  satellites is what makes us 'high tech'.

4 to 5 billion a year are doled out to greedy people who hoard property in the form of negative gearing tax concessions and the libbos want us to believe that there is a budget crisis Cheesy LOL

No doubt Hockey's wife claims those tax concessions on that investment property that she rents out to Joe in  Canberra. These people are the reason why we don't have a space program and labor is not much better Sad

incorrect. Not 1 cent is given to people who negative gear. You really do not have the basic intelligence to understand what a tax concession is do you?

No Nails, 4 to 5 Billion is NOT COLLECTED from the greedy people etc. It's not 'doled out' to them. That's an entirely different thing.

It is far cheaper and easier to build an Orbiter compared to making something that will touch down on Mars.

You know why they sent it out there don't you?

No Bobby, ian ( now imbetterthanyou) is not a sock puppet. It is quite possible (or actually probable) that more than one person would disagree with some of the silly stuff you post.

We have strayed off topic:

I want Australia to be a land of innovation not
a land of housing ponzi schemes.

Let's get into space technology.
