I used to hate refugees. I would run them down, make snide comments about Indians, call them worthless spongers, they should all be shot, etc based on the concerns of the economy, job losses, etc. I was all for "white power" "patriotism" "proud to be Aussie" and had that disgusting mentality.

But then I thought about it, after a time; if I lived in a war-torn or third world country, and if I had a way out, would I take it? The answer is yes, which is what most of us would say.

I am now of the belief that the human life, no matter where it comes from or what its faith is, is much more important than the petty, selfish, ridiculous economy, which is orchestrated by greedy scumbags who don't give two cr.aps about human life, or even each other.

Isn't it amazing how one people can act in fear because their lands are being invaded.

While Australians act in fear about the 'possibility' that someone overseas 'might' invade.  Roll Eyes

The country has already been invaded, just in a "politically correct" way.

Exactly. It's now politically correct to blame Islam for everything. If you don't, you're that heinous breed of wishy-washy softcock known as a "spineless apologist".

We all blame Islam here.

Extremism isn't a concept devoted to, or affiliated with Islam. This is what people forget... tunnel vision mentalities, separatist mentalities, where the need for war is determined by religion or race.

Another thing that is forgotten is that we all descend from one source, Islamic people weren't always as they are now, as I wasn't always a part of a "Western Christian civilisation".

If these people hating on the entirety of Islamic faith lived next door to an Islamic family, I can guarantee you that they wouldn't even have the cuts to confront them. Most of this is big tough keyboard warrior talk, a forum provides an outlet for wannabe warmongers.

Chickenhawks -- people who never signed up to fight a war, but support it behind the safety of their homes, computers, etc.

where do these chickhawks you mention LIVE....

I did watch 4 corners on e night and it was very disturbing.. young Syrian men living in terror from ISIS because they dish out the same punishment to them as the infidels for not joining their mission...

this man told the camera [with face covered of course] that most did not want to join and kill...but fear made them.. his eyes were haunted...

no these people are not keyboard warriors not at all...

we dont live in fear here.. we have no idea what that is like.

warmongers an old fashioned word....

not really we do what needs to be done... not because we want too because we have too...

if you think these people will never come to us.........

well I for one hope you are right.

I'm talking about people on this forum and other forums like this, spreading anti-Islam all over the place when the problem isn't the religion itself, it is the demented minds of the people who formed ISIS.
I am also talking about politicians who send people to war, and media representatives who sit there and support war when they would never send themselves or their children to war. Chickenhawks.

If you have to defend yourself, you have no choice. But that is a whole different ball game to getting involved in a war, thus attracting attention to the country putting everybody inside the country at risk.

The reason I started this thread is that ISIS is urging Moslems across the world to rise up against their host nations...It is the way of the Jihad.

As I have posted earlier, there are 500,000 Moslems in Australia, most of them peace loving people getting on with it.

However it would be extremely naive at the least to think that there is not at least a small percentage who hate us with a vengeance and are ready and willing to commit to the Jihad.

Therein lies the conundrum

If the small percentage that hated us really hated us, why would they move here?
Other than to take over, which is what ISIS want?
Having said that, you have a point. But we shouldn't punish all Islamic people for this percentage.
It's like punishing all Christians for being pedophiles.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."

What a quote.

Freedumb, you’re proving to be one of the most interesting and insightful posters here. I particularly liked your post in Spirituality about how you got sucked into the game of petty tit for tat that is this site.

Not only do you have the ability to pierce the veils of ignorance in others, you have the rare willingness to expose the violence within yourself.

You’ve got it.

good on you for admitting it and for finally letting common sense prevail.... EVERY SINGLE ONE of these anti asylum seeker mor ons on this forum would do exactly the same thing if roles were reversed ....

I doubt one of them would do things differently

extremists have been calling for Muslems to rise up against non believers for decades ... nothing new, why are you suddenly scared?

Its Abbotts intention to scare everyone into thinking we need to go to war, why? because historically, govt's at war rarely lose an election .. it's a numbers game and Abbott has already proven he doesn't care the cost, as long as he gets the office
