Quote:
Former parliamentary staffer James Ashby has dropped legal action against former speaker Peter Slipper.

Ashby drop the court case against Slipper because Ashby says that Slipper is "mentally unwell"

Quote:
In his statement, Mr Ashby also cited reports that Mr Slipper has been "mentally unwell" as a further consideration in his decision.

"Under such circumstances, I do not wish to continue lengthy proceedings that could potentially cause him great harm," Mr Ashby said.

It would be nice to know who put the pressure on Ashby to drop the court case.

If you are taking someone to court the last thing you worry about is their mentally health.

I don't think it would be the lawyers that told Ashby to drop the case as they would like a verdict in their favour to get the cost back that they already spent on the first court case and the appeal. So who else would like the court case to be drop and why?

Well wasn't this a nothing story.

60 minutes more like ACA

Yes if you consider that showing that the Liberals are corrupt and dishonest isn't relevant or that it was so obvious that no confirmation is required then it is a nothing story.

They way it always looked was that Pyne, Brought and up to the top of the Lieberal food chain were all involved, Now there is confirmation from inside that this was in fact what had happened.

It's so obvious, that no confirmation was required.

I suspect 60 Minutes will be reporting on the dampness of water next.

The moral of he story

DON'T TRUST THE F.CKING LIBS

even Ashby, the man who put himself and his future on the line to help them win government, was lied to and then abandoned

I think the take home message is...

Don't use amateur tactics to beat professionals at their own game... The reason the David and Goliath story is so enduring is because its exceptional.

Ashby thought he could take on the political and legal forces of a major political party with a notebook and some lurid stories.

but Ashby also thought he had his own major political party and by extension Newscorp onside to protect him

instead they threw him out as burley to sharks

And, of course he had a contract to prove he had his own major political party and by extension Newscorp onside to protect him?

No? .... Thought thought he thought a thought.

In terms of his experience, his political and legal acumen, he was burley from the get go.

And what makes some believe that his intentions were/are honest and honourable?

you want a contract to undermine and remove a democratically elected govt. by underhanded means? This is the real world Í am talking about, these back room deals don't involve contracts ...

I've not doubt anybodies intentions were less than honourable, nevertheless, they made him a promise and in typical lib fashion, broke the promise

there was nothing new.

I feel for the young man I really do...the left will do its best to get mileage out of it.. but really what was NEW?..

his mum and dad knew he was being used or taken for a ride...$160.000 a year with no experience...

how gullible can you get?

nothing new? weren't you one of the ones claiming it wasn't a case of the libs trying to bring down Gillard?

Getting mileage out of it?  Like the righties getting mileage out of the deaths of four young men in the Insulation scheme?

one HUGE difference there.... sorry to bring it up..

4 young men lost their lives due to utter incompetence....

did Pyne lie???.. its SAhbys word against his..

funny how you believe everything ashby says about Pyne and Brough yet whatever he says about slipper is a lie....slipper was the speaker remember???...LOL>.he had the full backing of the PM..

the best part of that program was the look on Gillards face when slipper resigned... Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

If what Ashby says is true, the libs have ruined his life ... that doesn't matter to you though does it?

The problem for the Liberal party is they relied so heavily on James Ashby's allegations to condemn Peter Slipper.....Now they must condemn him as a liar to protect their own involvement.....Just watch them try to squirm there way out of this mess!!!

Offering somebody a job in return for being a witness against political opponents is not corruption?

He didn't. If what Ashby said is true, he said his job would be secure if he went ahead with the complaint. Huge difference.

Pyne slipped up (pardon the pun) in his press conference when he stated "If Julia Gillard had not sacked Harry Jenkins and made Peter Slipper speaker these allegations would never have surfaced".....So Pyne has confirmed it was about getting Slipper and not the sexual harassment claims!!!

I don't know anything, I'm merely commenting on the allegations
