We knew Pyne was corrupt Cods, but we did not know the seriousness of it until this whistleblower has come forward:

Quote:
...Federal Education Minister Christopher Pyne allegedly offered to help find former speaker's aide James Ashby a lawyer and a job if he made a claim of sexual harassment against speaker of the House of Representatives Peter Slipper...

...Journalist Liz Hayes: "You'd been, according to you, assured by Christopher Pyne that you would have a job and you would have a solicitor who would be paid for."

James Ashby: "That's right …

Pyne is an ugly little man who used a fool to help bring down the government. Ashby deserves what he got and would have known exactly what Pyne and Brough wanted from him.

I doubt anyone will believe Pyne's denial, but then what he did isn't a hanging offence, but just dirty tactics. We know that the Coalition will stop at nothing to get what they want even if it means destroying people in the process.

Gillard's sacking of Harry Jenkins as Speaker and installing of Slipper to shore up her shaky numbers wasn't a "dirty tactic"?

Any government would have done the same under the circumstances. The tactics would have seemed dirty to the opposition at the time, but then they resorted to even dirtier tactics to get rid of Slipper. They destroyed him.

Not defending Pyne but what's the evidence?

The complainant made (apparently) timely notes of a meeting with Pyne. Pyne, no doubt, made none.

Senior politicians don't get to where they are and stay there by making questionable promises that can be proved by a disgruntled complainant.

So, if you believe Ashby its because you want to believe him, not because the evidence supports his claim.

All governments and their components (within the administrative and executive) go to great lengths to achieve their aims while minimizing political risk and legal liability.

What you could say is that 60 Minutes  stopped at nothing to get what they want even if it meant destroying naive and vulnerable people in the process.

Was Ashby paid for the story?

You do realise that making that allegation is defamatory if untrue? The onus is yours to prove your allegation.

He would have been paid by 60 minutes. Ashby obviously loves the attention. If he really was as suicidal as he claims - he wouldn't be trying to keep the story alive.

In that case Pynie could always sue at huge cost and recover nothing.... but would he really want the publicity?

Time for a total review of 'defamation' etc "laws".
